Hi there,

Is anyone planning on going to the WPBA event in Florida next week? If so, please let us (me, Sarah, Jennifer, Lisa) know so that we can look out for you and introduce ourselves....

Also, can anyone tell me what the weather is like right now? I can always look at the weatherchannel.com, but they get it wrong so often....I prefer to hear first-hand what to expect.....thanks!

I'm not in Flordia, but I am concerned about the weather there too. I started this thread on the NPR section of the CCB the other day. Figured I'd share, you might get some info out of it, I dunno.

I will be going down to the Florida event next week. Third event of the year I will be able to catch. Should be interesting with the new format. I've got tix for Thu and Fri, but I am not very happy with the weird scheduling and limited amount of matches on Saturday, so I am passing on that day.

I am curious to hear what you players think of the new single elimination play for the final 16. My guess is that most would be in favor of it, making it a little easier to break the dominance of the top 2 or 3 players. Good luck to all of you.
 
Don't go to Florida too early or you'll meet up with Hurricane Frances this Saturday. You'll be California Dreaming.

Best of fortune to you and Stef there in the other Hollywood.
 
Awaiting hurricane

I am about 20 miles from the Hard rock and just about the whole state is waiting for this Frances to blow through.Everyone is bordered up.By the time you all get here we should be pretty much cleaned up from this storm.Hope to see everyone there and count on 90 degrees and the humidity about 90 also.
 
I've cancelled my plans; I couldn't really get there until midday Friday, and it looks like Saturday is not a super busy day. Weather concerns also an issue. I sure do like WPBA Fridays and Saturdays with their usual format - usually 11-13 hours of all the great pool you could ask for (Sunday finals drag so much that I prefer watching it later on television). Please update us on your thoughts about the new format after the tournament.

Hey Mel and everyone else,

If there is going to be a group going to the tournament maybe we could have a small get together like we did in Peoria. Hopefully we will all make it there safely with the bad weather and all.

I was having quick weather concerns myself.....but I hear that the storm will have passed by the time I get there on Tuesday. I really hope that the hurricane will move quickly and as gently as possible through the area....the Floridians really don't need any more destruction.

I will definitely be sure to post my thoughts on the new format. (But I can tell you right now....my opinion will be largely based on whether I do well or not....LOL). It should be interesting....that's for sure!

Sarah, we can most definitely plan a meeting for the all those coming to the event. Just let me know when and where!

And for anyone going to the US Open....have a great time! The men don't look half as good as the women....but they sure can play!

You had a good workout taking Ernesto to the Hill at Riverside and except for a 1 miss you would have won - impressive. Good fortune at the other Hollywood to you and Stef.
