The tour kicked of this weekend at Cappones, Spring Hill, I didnt think the fields at these events could get much stronger wow was I wrong.
I have listed a lot of the big names on my site and will try post results here later. I will also post pictures and results on my site.

Capone's

I was there last night, Tony beat Sigel, Sigel had him 6/3 going to seven, and Tony won. Varner got off to a slow start but was still playing last round last night losers side. Charlie Wms, beat Saez, Rob had em 3/1 then Charlie won six of the next of the next eight to win. Some action also late, will not disclose the w/loss. Rodney got beat at 2 games and is on the losers. Mostly loser bracket when I watched late, so not too many names/faces that I know. Runnin' out of time at the library.

Thanks for the update Tony. Goodluck to you today and I hope to get down to Tampa a few times this year and hopefully you'll be around when I do.

Thanks for the info! Your web site is very comprehensive and impressive. I've always thought the Florida Tour was the toughest regional tour in the country, and it doesn't seem to have gotten any easier. I thought it was very telling to check out the final points standings from last year and see all the "visiting" champion-speed players who came in for 1 or 2 tournements and didn't always like it. If anyone living in Florida hasn't been to a Florida Tour event yet, you really should check it out. You'll see some of the best 9-ball in the world and enjoy a well-run, railbird-friendly environment. Thanks again, "Sniper", and good luck in the tour.

From Tony's Blog:

"...then had to play mike sigel in what turned out to be a repeat of my last match, from 6-3 down I managed to find a NATURAL CURE and take the match 7-6(lol), Sigel antics on the day had already won him two matches I wasnt about to let him get to me. I took the match without even a handshake from the old timer, he went on to lose his next match to Go Takami."

What kind of antics is Tony talking about? Is this the usual Sigel chirping to the rail during the match or was it something more?

Hey doug,
Never seen Buddy, He defo never showed up to withdraw? and there was no call from him either.

Congrats to Neil Fujiwara.... Neil placed 4th in this field of champions!

1st Charlie Williams $3500
2nd David Grossman $2000
3rd Earl Strickland $1500
4th Neal Fujiwara $1000
5th/6th Tony Crosby, Trevor Braymore $850
7th/8th Brian Davalos, Hiroshi Takenaka $650
9th/12th David Broxson, Thorsten Hohmann, Richie Orem, Silver Ochoa $450
13th/16th Go Takami, John Ditoro, Curtis Kelly, Nick Varner $250
17th/24th Mike Sigel, Keith Bennett, Felipe Caraballo, David Ross, Wayne Catledge, Butch Croft, Robb Saez $150

(Snippet taken from the article on the AZ homepage)

With a field this strong, not all of the top players were going to end up in the money. The players finshing out of cash this time included Rodney Morris, Troy Frank and Richie Richeson. Morris was a victim to Go Takami and Thorsten Hohmann. Mike Sigel just barely finished in the money after losses to Tony Crosby and Go Takami.

Way to go Neil! :)

That's a pretty strong field, I am sort of surprised to see that Sigel didn't fare too well. Players should have brought an MP3 player to drown out Sigel's vocal tirade, I heard there were a couple of instances where his talking was considered sharking by his opponent.

Felipe Caraballo cashing is unbelievable. I know Felipe, he is from Miami and while he is a jamup automotive master mechanic, his skills on the pool table are ...well...modest. Honestly, I am surprised that he travelled to Spring Hill and played. In our weekly nineball handicapped tournament Felipe is an A1. As a reference, someone like John Ditoro would be an A6 or even an A7. The handicapped system down here would have Ditoro giving Felipe the 6/7/8 and maybe even a game on the wire racing to 8.

Amazing...I will have to talk with Felipe about this and see how he accomplished this, its quite impressive considering the talent pool that was in this tournament.

Ok, it's not amazing for an A1 to do well against top players in a single tournament...If he's on and he has a good draw against players who are off. Anything can happen on any given day. To be an A player you have to have skill, maybe just not the best consistency in the world.....

Actually Sigel was quite compared to his usual. And he gave Takami the match, I was there. He was pretty frustated with the tables, some were not level and he just wanted out of there!

^ sorry, I know this thread is old, but that post is just funny - because I think you misunderstood. In Miami ('sharp shooters') they have a regular pool-hall's weekly 9-ball tournament - and it's rated - and it rates from C (i believe) threw like A13 (or something).

C, B-, B, B+, A, A1, A2, A3 etc.

So Jane Doe, who can't make the cue ball hit the 1 ball without scratching, is a C.. Jonny, who can run 3 balls on a good day, is an B+.. George, who can run 5 balls, and might even run a rack once in a blue moon, is an A1..
The handicap goes more by money-ball then by game-on-wire...

So David, they raised me - I don't get the 6-7-8 and a game from you anymore.. I get like the 7-8 or something.. I did okay in last weeks tournament thou', and I'd like to try you some with the 6'out soon! :D

phew glad that 6/7/8 thing is finally over. I felt like a dog trying to drag around a boat anchor it was so much weight...
