Florida Spirit Tour Update?

Brackets are posted now. Still need a couple matches updated from tonight. Probably won't get those last matches til tomorrow morning.

I watched all of Jessica's matches, and a few of Monica's matches. Debbie was playing very well, as was Tiffany. Helena Thornfeldt and Jeannie Seaver were still alive on the losers side. I'm pulling for the Orlando women - but Monica is shooting extremely well - and she has that look in her eyes.
On a side note - I had a blast! It was great spending time with Pool Hall Maven, Roberta Case, Linda Moss, Big Perm, Heather Barkley, and room owner Jeff Scott - Jeff is a big supporter of all the tours... a few months back his room, Bank Shots hosted the World 10 Ball Championship, yesterday he hosted the Ladies Spirit Tour - and in a few weeks Bank Shots will be hosting the Florida Pro Tour - Bank shots is a great tournament venue and my hat is off to the entire staff for accomodating the players, the fans, and the TD's. Thank you, Jeff!
It was great to see some new faces on the ladies spirit tour such as Elizabeth Zingale (awesome stroke and mechanics) - I look forward to seeing her compete in more of these events. I had a very nice conversation with her and her husband Michael yesterday afternoon. Good people. I also got a chance to meet and to speak with Shanna Lewis - very nice lady - I was fortunate enough to watch all of her matches - she plays extremely well!
If you get a chance, get out there and support this tour, as well as the rooms that host the tournaments - and last but not least - support the players! All of them are doing a great job!
Monica Webb won the tournament, defeating Tiffany Nelson 7-5 in the final to get the top prize money.

The WPBA Qualifier went to 5th place finisher ....

The event you are speaking of was probably the last event of the year, The Grand Finale, which I believe was won by Sarah Rousey. I'm not an expert on the payout system or how much money is coming in, but I am pretty sure that the last tournament has some extra added money - last year it was the only event that had that much added, and I was at all but the final 3 of the LST events last year.
The tour will be back at Capone's in a few weeks (September 8-9) for The Florida State Campionships and that event is a $1000 added event and the ladies will be competing for a US Open Qualifier as well as the cash.
The events need fan support from everyone. When the tour spends two days in a pool room, the room owner is taking the risk that fans will show up and support the players, the tour, and their business. When prospective vendors see that they can market their products through the reqional tours, such as the Ladies Spirit Tour, then there will be the chance of more added money from sponsors of the tours.
It's a lot of work to plan these events, and even more work to pull it off every couple of weeks. Heather and Richie, along with Roberta Case, and several of the players that volunteer their time - all work tirelessly before during and after the event. They do it for the love of the game - not for a paycheck. The least we can all do is get out there and support them whenever we get the chance. Support the rooms that host these events. If the rooms don't make money, then the tour runs the risk of not being invited back. When that's the case, everybody loses.

Yes your right Black Jack. I use to make at least 3 or 4 of them a year before my body started flying apart a few years ago. Most stops you get to see some WPBA players and/or one of the up and coming stars from another country like Ga Young Kim, X Pan, Sarrah Ellerby, and others that I can't think of now. Johnnyt
I was one of those 13 new players, finally making it down there after 4 years in the South! This makes it my 6th Regional tour and probably the toughest field I have seen since Corr played on NEWT! I had a great time, even though for me it was a pretty grueling event. My last match on Saturday did not finish till midnight! This was mostly due too an electrical problem they had in the morning which gave us a late start. No ones fault of course. As well as a series of intense, close matches.
A 3rd round loss in a close battle with Debbie Schjodt sent me to the losers side, where I waited an hour for my opponent. I then found myself in a 0-5 hole after the first 30 minutes of my match....I fought my way back to a 7-6 win. (Comeback should be by middle name) I then lost the next round, just out of steam and my opponent must of kissed a leprechaun cause she got a 9 on the break the first game, almost made it a few more times and had easy combos...and then missed the nine in the last game and yet is still found a pocket on the other side of the table.
Oh well....I guess I left my four leaf clover at home

I was able to watch some of that match between you and Freida... that was some momentum shift! Overall I think you played a great tournament! Congratulations, I hope to see you playing regularly on this tour!

That event at Capone's is scheduled the same week as the Florida Pro Tour event - which is at Bank Shots - again in J'ville. lol... for now, it doesn't look like I am playing in that one - but I will be in Daytona this weekend for Tommy Kennedy's SE Open event at Unce Waldo's - and that should be one hell of a tournament! It sure is great to be here in Florida where there is so much happening week after week! We really are fortunate to have so many people promoting events down here! Good luck!

It was great seeing both of you again. The company was great, and the level of play was top notch. Hanging with Blackjack, had a chance to watch a number of matches and these ladies can flat out play....learned a few new safes and saw some strong kicking skills. For those that can, support these ladies and show up for future events - you will be impressed.
As a single guy, I can say there were a number of good looking women with strong pool skills there.....so it was kinda like heaven

I just wish that the state of Florida wasn't so big! Jacksonville was too far for me
Other than that, I second everyone's comments. The one Spirit Tour event I have played in was awesome, and all the players and tour staff are amazing. Everyone was so welcoming to the newcomer! If you live in Florida, and haven't joined yet, please do!
