For anyone who thinks pool's not stressful

Fabio Petroni was just playing his match against Gabe Owen. Fabio was losing, apparently playing bad and just couldn't take it anymore. He missed a ball and then started banging his head on the table. Blood started pouring out of his head so bad that he couldn't finish the match. They took him out of the room and had to call the paramedics.

This looked much worse than I could possibly describe.

I hope that he's ok and he probably will be but...damn!

I know I've had the urge to do that before but, fortunately, have never acted upon it. :)

That's too bad about Fabio Petroni. If anyone knows him personally, tell him there are solutions for this problem other than quiting pool.

Just for the record, what was the score?

wow, i've seen fabio play a couple of times on the european circuit, chatted with him etc., got a little insight into his demeanor on and off the table. i'm shocked to hear this, he just didn't appear as the kind of guy who would do such a thing. talk about stressful

This is one of the most disturbing things I have heard in years, I hope he is okay physically and emotionally.

Prayers for Fabio tonight.

What could be more stressful than trying to make a living at something that doesn't pay enough to make a living.

And the final score is.............Table 1/ Fabio 0! What an amazing upset! I feel bad for the guy, but holy crap man! Guess it pays to know your opponent....

pal

well i know fabio very well good friend on the pool circuit am shocked to hear this news,i have roomed with fabio in vegas and spent lot of time with him and his a great guy and very funny

i heard stories in the past he used to be hot headed and get upset when he lost

but the 2 years have known him well especially the past year he as been a great role model on and of the table and very dedictated on and off the table, and when he lost he never really got too upset or complained, so am very shocked to hear this news i really hope he will be ok

great charactor of our game and a gentleman!

Did the blood get on the table? Simonis isn't cheap. Hope he is ok and can get back to the table. The stress of pool can do wonders to a persons emotions, especially at that level of play.

I thought it was funny you were more worried about the equipment getting damaged than the player getting hurt. You're a pool player for sure. :D

Funny!

Shades of Crazy Bruce from Miami, a head basher of the highest order. His favorite was to run full speed across the poolroom with his head down, and straight into a wall. And knock himself out cold. I shit you not!

Scalp wounds will bleed profusely, due to all the small blood vessels in our scalp. It looks worse than it is most of the time. Frankly I'm surprised too. I never saw Fabio act anything like that. All I ever saw him do was try to win.

Something else going on....

I think this is probably a product of something else going on. Without knowing for sure, it's hard to tell. But times when I have been out of line, there has been something in the background. A woman, bills, death.... I've taken a bathroom break and almost knocked myself out(literally) in disgust... I've bit my brand new shaft! lol Pool is frustrating sometimes, but I think it's a culmination of things.

My feeling about this is, if it gets this bad then you shouldn't be playing! You should hang up your cue.

There was a special on Arnold Palmer today on the Golf Channel. When he was 18 and playing in a Junior tournament, he missed a short putt and threw his putter over the top of a tree. His father was there with him.

After the match, on the way home his father looked at him and said, "If you ever do that again, it will be the last game of golf you ever play." Needless to say, he never did.

Well, I am going to chime in on this one...

I know it hurt Fabio like Hell, because I have done it (more in jest, but I hit down too hard and I thought I was going to pass out).

The amazing thing to me is that the report says he did it multiple times.

I was practicing with a friend one day at lunch and I dogged a ball and leaned over and "beat" my head on the table. I either did it too hard or I underestimated the hardness of slate, but I can assure you that there was no way I was going to be able to muster up a second pass.

I had a large red mark on my forhead for the rest of the day and I had a migraine-level headache for about 3 hours.

I literally thought I had knocked myself out...

This Behavior Requires A NAME... imo

SOMEONE START A POLL !!!!!!

What I'd really like to know is, when someone reacts like this again in the future, will it be called:
A) The Fabio
B) The Petroni
C) Going Fab
D) Bazonga
