Maybe I can help John, onepocketchump said:David Matlock is one of the greatest players who never made a name for himself beyond the innermost circles of pool.
.................
If any of you can get it, get David's long lost video on Bar Box 9-Ball. In it he tortures Johnny archer and Steve Mizerak. I have it and that may be my contribution to somehow convert it to DVD and put it up on YouTube for everyone to enjoy. Colin, can you do something like that?
John

Snapshot9 said:Actually David is from a little town called Starlight, Mo. in western Mo.. He lived for years in various cities of Oklahoma playing anyone that wanted some big action. I believe Keith has played him 2-3-4 times during those times.
Funny, while playing a 9 ball tournaemnt last night, I heard another story about David. (besides the double jump and others), seems David was playing last pocket, and couldn't bank the 8, so he called going into one corner pocket, coming back out of it, and going caddy-corner in his corner pocket, and made the shot. Came up talking about best shots ever seen discussion.

We went through Ponca City and it was amazing to watch David pratice. He had the break on that table down to a science.I remember when he was running with Ronny Phoebes (spelling). What a character he was.
watchez said:Bobby Baldwin. Bobby told me once that he swears there was a month when they were running together when David didn't miss a ball at all, practicing or otherwise.
Finishing 7th place in this event that had what, 200 players? I think it's safe to say that it hasn't hurt him.predator said:And this David guy. He must be super talented. But don't you think all these years of playing on smaller tables with big CB hurt his 9ft game at least somewhat?
predator said:Today I think you'd be hard pressed to find a pro European player to even look at the barbox, let alone play on it. What's the point when there are 9ft tables around?

ironman said:I know Bobby, but there was another guy, pretty rich who used want to bet outrageous money on Dave too. Wasn't his name Duggan or something like that? Long time ago!
cuetechasaurus said:You have a good point, because I know for a fact that Jesse Bowman, who is supposedly the best bar box player in the world right now, is not considered a top player on a 9 foot table. Dave Matlock is a top player on both. With Dave being in stroke right now, and playing Jesse for a large sum on a barbox, I think Dave would be the favorite (even though barbox 9-ball is nothing more than a break contest).
Lets not forget who the REAL king of the 7 footer of all time (with the big rock) is, and that would be none other than Keith McCready.
