Seems like the last 3-4 day the Forum is running very slow, or will not load between the hours of 0420-0600 Arizona Time (California Time) This time of year. What is the problem, or is the server doing something behind the scenes like a maintenance?

Anyone else noticing this or is it only effecting dial uppers?

FYI

For those of us on the east coast, it happens between 7-8 AM every morning. Very frustrating to say the least.

Yes, we noticed

Mike and I are aware of this problem and are working on it but it is weird. Some days between 7 and 8 AM here in Georgia my computer finds the forum very slow while Mikes computer in Arizona is working fine. It does not appear to be a daily software update issue or anything like that. At any rate, we are on the case but at this moment do not have a likely suspect.

Personally, I think it may be that JAM is spilling coffee in her keyboard every morning. :)

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that I think they have the forum database set to backup nightly around that time.

Scott, Nope. That isn't it. We have already looked at that.

Well then it must be the gerbils resting.

Is It Only AZ

Is everything slow at that time or just AZ

Do a TRACERT to that address when it's bot slow and normal.

Could just be there are certain nodes with lots of traffic at that time

Well hm.

It seems I recall reading some time back that the forums are run on a different physical server than the main AZB site, correct?

And assuming that is correct... at the times in the morning when the forums are sluggish... is the main site also sluggish?

If so, that would indicate the available bandwidth going to the AZB servers as a whole is reduced... which would indicate an issue with the hosting service, generally.

If not, does the CPU usage on the forums server spike during these times? There may not be a backup running at that time but there could be other processes scheduled to run at that time.

Working on this issue with the hosting company now.

I have already checked the forum logs for any housekeeping routines running at that time and I didn't see any. But the backup idea is a possibility.
