Forum Speed?

I'm wondering if it's my computer or has anyone else had speed problems on the forum the last couple of days. Sometimes it's quick opening up new threads and other times it just hangs there waiting to open the next page.

I'm not sure if it's my set up (I moved recently to a new home and I had to set up my network here) or if the forum is slow off and on.

Yup, I'm usually pretty good but off and on lately I've variously had problems with lag logging in and sometimes responding to a thread seems to take forever, sometimes as long as two-three minutes.

Been lagging a lot, in more ways than one for me! :frown:

Yes , what i have to do is x off that window , go to an unrelated website , log on , then x off it and come back to the forum . Usually clears up.

Same here, reset everything on my end, no difference and just this website is the issue so I think it's not my ISP.

Then, all of a sudden, it will be fast again. It's kind of hot and cold when it comes to the speed.

5 minutes to laod then all of the sudden it loads in a blink of an eye for a bit and then back to the 5 minute loading time again?

Exactly. It is as if it hangs sometimes, and then it's fast as lightning. :grin-square:

I've only been on AZ for about six months, but it's always been that way for me. One click is zippy and the next one hangs for minutes; no pattern.

Windows XP SP2 and Windows 7, Firefox browser on both.

I have noticed it more in the last 2 months more than anything. Not too bad but definately annoying at times.

I've had a ton of problems with hanging up.

Maybe this can be the new AZ Billiards Forum Logo.

This has been an ongoing issue with AZ for a long time. Every time I mention it one of the self appointed ones says it's your computer not Az. Funny because this is the ONLY site it happens on.

For the record, I bet nobody who actually RUNS this forum told people "It's just your computer".
The only people saying stuff like that... are other users who don't actually know what's going on.
It's been happening for months to (I think) everybody.

One of our regulars has been working with Mike H. (or whoever runs the server) to try to resolve it. But so far, I don't think they know the exact cause. It doesn't seem to be a question of horsepower or bandwidth. They've tried a few fixes but they haven't done much that I can see.

I hate to say it but I think this issue probably won't get fixed with volunteer work, even if it's right up their alley. There's only so much time someone will pour into fixing a site for free, especially when their 'day job' keeps them very busy. I'm hoping Mike will consider hiring someone to look into it. I'd be willing to donate a few bucks towards the effort.

All of the above. And it's the site not anyone's connection or computer.
Some times it's so bad I'm forced to watch porn.
