Well not exactly in cash but I was at Kolby's watching Mitch Ellerman and Scott Frost playing some sets which was some rather stellar 9 ball, these guys did not miss much. I look over at one of the tables where spectators can sit at and place the food and drinks on and in one of cue holders on the front of the table is a plain jane cue with some SW ringwork. At this point Scott and Mitch are gone, I go and grab the cue and it weighs like 25 ounces so I figure it is Mitch's break cue or something. I pool it apart to see if it is a SW, has the pin but no cactus, it is a predate though I can tell or a Kersenbrock. I ask around to find out if anyone knows the owner and no one does, I have to say I did have to hit a few balls with it. :)

The only person I know with a ton of SW cues is Ted who in an older guy who plays there often and since it was a Sunday and he plays there every Sunday I believed it had to be his break cue, he plays with a Kersenbrock though. I tagged it with his name and put it in the office, sure enough I see Ted yesterday and he was thrilled and relieved I had found it and put it in the office as it was sitting there all day and as we know most poolhalls are not a place to leave stuff just laying around. The cue is probably worth about $2,000 he said if not more and said he owed me a few drinks, he was sick when he opened his case and the cue was not in it. I was glad to get it back to him as I hate hearing the stories of lost or stolen cues which we see often on here.

Looks like Alexis has a good mentor in life. Rep to you sir. Now can you find me an inexpensive Lambros please!

$2000 isnt going to do you any favours in the long run.

Great job Lenny, I would expect no less from you.

Very nice of you...I'm sure he was nothing short of grateful.

On one of my trips to Ohio I dropped about a grand out of my pocket somewhere in a pool hall in Mentor. I usually went up there with a thousand cash in an envelope which I just kept in the glove box. When I would hit a bar I would take out about a hundred and leave the rest. Well I was already a little tipsy so instead of taking out a few I just grabbed the envelope.

I woke up the next morning and of course I couldn't find it. I knew I had to of fallen out of my pocket at the pool hall so I knew it was long gone (well it would've been long gone anywhere actually). I almost fell down laughing when my buddy said to call up there to see if someone turned it in. Yea I did call and no....no one has seen an envelope filled with a thousand dollars.

My buddy looked at me and said that he would be freaking out. I just told him that there is no point in letting this ruin my vacation and in the end it did make someone's day.

Rep to you for doing the right thing, 20 years ago a pool hall acquaintance of mine did just the opposite and kept a Joss West a customer had left behind even after the guy called about it an hour later, he offered to sell it to me for next to nothing but I didn't want anything to do with it.

I could never enjoy a cue I knew was stolen and caused someone else heartache.

Thanks from all of us!! Just to let people know that there are still some honesty left in pool is great. Great Job FL. Thanks again

better yet

Better story yet....about 10 years ago my buddy or his wife left his all ebony and ivory SoutWest up against a slot machine at the Riv during APA Nations. He said he was near tears because the cue is, I believe 1 of 2, and said to fetch around $10K nowadays.

The next day it was turned into the control desk and returned to him.
