Not to sound like Travis T but I played for 4 hours on the table I just got(1st pool in 3 years) and I feel it right now in my feet and legs. I feel like I went 3 rounds with a 4 foot kickboxer or I'm back to my teens when the beat cops would hit you in the back of your legs with his nightstick...for nothing:rolleyes: Johnnyt

You should have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express.

LMAO. I better cut it down to 2hour shifts next time or I'll be staying at a hospital. Johnnyt

Advil...Advil and more Advil. It helps my back and legs extend a session past my age limit.

I have some anti fatigue mats next to my table, they help a lot. I also wear extra thick socks to cushion my feet.

I recommend some New Balance tennis shoes... But, my old legs won't allow 4 hours... if I do that I'm really hurting the next day.......:sorry:

Rofl........

Yeah, when I ran my first rack of 9-ball I had to stop myself from doing the Rocky thing. Thank God I didn't have a bunch of steps to run up. Johnnyt

So how did you do Johnny?

Good to hear that you are back on the table again!

One of the best thing I have read here on AZ is that Dave Nelson is 82 years old and still playing pool almost everyday. I really hope that I am able to still pocket some balls in 54 years from now...

Heck, I just take one Geritol daily ...And I feel like I can run the Boston Marathon.... ;)

Does that stuff really work? It's been around for over 50 years that I know of. I always thought it was snake oil. Johnnyt

To be honest Roy, I didn't shoot bad at all for off 3 years. It took me over an hour to run a 2 pack, but after that I ran about 6 more in the next few hours. After the new cloth and rail rubber gets done Monday I'll be able to know where the QB will stop... I think. I have all kinds of pains from shooting right now. But there good pains. At least I didn't get them from opening my big mouth for a change. Johnnyt

My local room has two 6x12 snooker tables and every weekday afternoon from 1 to 4 there is a standing partners snooker game for .50$ the first game, 1$ for every game there after until the last game where they bump the bet to 2$.
All the guys that play are retired with the oldest being 94. Many of these guys are in their 80's and it always makes me feel good when they ask me to join them and then take turns poking at me for being a 9 baller who plays on those little 9 footers. I only hope to live as long and still be able to play this game that I love. The one place, for me, where all that was or ever will be takes a backseat to the moment. The one place where I, on occasion, exhibit a grace in motion that I am just not capable of anywhere else.

Stretch

My wife says to kneel on the floor. Put one arm under your body with the palm up. Push it slowly upward while looking up on the same side.

Helps my shoulders a lot.

Please remind me to not gamble against you :)

Are you playing on a 9 or a box? That's some good shooting Johnny, you've really learned something from all those hours watching Allison Fisher and WPBA on ESPN :D

Have you found someone to challenge yet, or decided for a tournament to try your luck in? Wish you the best - may the good rolls be with you!

It's a 7 foot Valley bar box with 4 3/8" corner pockets. If I ever got down as far as Allison does to shoot they'd have to call 911 to come on fold me. The landscaper wanted to play for a few bucks but the wife got all pissed off that she was going to lose a good gardener. Johnnyt

I played 6 hours straight last Nov. 3... and my back still hurts (even if I'm still in my 20's)! It might take me a couple more days before I can play again....

Perhaps we should do some stretching exercises next time, just like in any other sport before playing, even if we're gonna play a short game

In my case it's old age and getting in positions that I haven't been in in awhile. I do some light dumbbell workouts 4 times a week and walk about a half mile in the mornings hoping that someone will try to mug me. Johnnyt

Makes your wonder how you pulled an 8-12 hour shift on a table doesn't it? The only time I can remember being exhausted from playing was a 3 man team tourney I did 10 years ago. I played 14 hours the first day 10am-12am and 12 hours the next day 12pm-12pm. By the time we made it to the finals we didn't give a shit if we won or lost anymore.
