Free streams.

I love the free streams. And the ponds and lakes also. Seriously, they probably will slowly stop being free. Other than Big Truck I have not seen much I would pay for yet. Have seen some poor picture quality which is always blamed on the venue or casino or whatever. That's not my problem. Fix it! Do that electronic computer thing and don't tell me about it. If I do pay, I certainly want more choices than one or two tables. I know it's not realistic to have all the tables, but maybe three. That gives you six people to choose from. And like tv there should never be dead time. Do something in-between matches. Interview Earl! Ask to see his jump cue! LOL. Pay some ex pros and roadies to commentate. A customer should never be staring at an empty table. Good grief, put up a Tom and Jerry cartoon! Do something about the stupid jukebox playing in the background. I think Big Truck is coming to OKC. for the Jamaica Joes tourney. If he's not too big I might bend his ear about all this. That's another plus about streaming, is little ole me may be streamed playing Chip Compton or Joey Gray. Now that would be cool!

not trying to hijack the thread but what are your comments on commentating? should they do it all the time? just once in a while; focus on the next ball and patterns? One the best I enjoy hearing is billy incardona. He stays focused on the game and got some great ol stories. Just wondering what most people like to hear on the commentating part and since that is part of the streams thought I would ask. thanks

This is just not realistic and people like you will never be happy. The free streams are being done for those that appreciate what is being sacrificed to bring them a free stream. Please stay away from these free stream as you seem to not care about how much it take to bring them to you.

As for one you might pay for, I like trucks streams too but you will never get a stream that has no dead time at all unless it is put together by a full production team with lots of money. To do a stream like that would cost more for each viewer then most are willing to pay.

Doing a steam with multiple table is just not realistic for a streamer. When TAR traveled from pool room to pool room it took a car load of shit to just do a good stream on one table.

I feel if you pay X amount for the stream. One no pop ups. They should be taking care of by the provider. Let them pay the $3.95. There are no pop ups on HBO. Number 2, half the time the provider can't keep the correct score. An if they post it it covers one forth the screen. Number 3 control the environment loud music, cameras being moved ect. Number 4 start on time or communicate why it is starting late. Keep the public informed. An for all you streamers if it is too rough get a day job. I think that I have poked the bear enough.

You can get rid of pop ups for free, that is a computer thing, keeping the score in not always that easy when you are doing 12 things at once, the environment is controlled by the pool room. They still have to run a business and make money. The world does not stop for a pool stream. And most streamers do have DAY jobs. They are taking time out of their taking time out of there FREE time to bring you a stream. You get to see things you would never have a chance to see and just hear about and wish you had seen it.

If the stream is free you get what you pay for. BUT if you pay for it, the streamer should treat it like watching a heart patient in intensive care. Some of us care very much when we lay out our hard earned money. If you take the money get serious about your product.

I don't have a problem with paying for a stream. If it's good quality and it's something that I want to watch. If I was an advertiser, I would have an issue with supporting a ppv stream because of the lack of numbers of veiwers. Good Free streams usually generate at most around a 1000 viewers. I'm guessing ppv are 10% if not less of that number. As an advertiser, I would rather have 1000 viewers than 100.

There was a junior world tournament streamed a few months ago from Poland. They had a camera for every table. All you had to do was click on a corresponding link to watch any table that you wanted. The feature table was the only one with commentary. I don't think that it would be too hard to have a camera at more that one table. That would definitely make the streams more enjoyable.

The other issue that I have with paying for ppv is that I'm usually playing on the weekends and don't get to watch much of the streams. It's hard for me to justify paying a ppv if I don't get to watch much of it. How about offering a DVD or the ability to watch matches later as part of the price of the ppv?

I "THINK" Big Truck poolactiontv.com provides access to the archives which includes most if not all previously recorded matches, if you are a PREMIUM member but I could be wrong.

Throwing a camera on at least a second table is not a bad idea, imo.

Let them all charge if they want. At the end of the day only the 2 or 3 with the best product and service will be left standing. I don't mind paying for a good pool stream with top players and a quality stream. Johnnyt

i agree if they wanna charge thats them shouldent scare off ppl

I have been streaming FREE since 2008 and have enjoyed it and have had frustrations at the same time. I have been lucky to meet some good people and also ones who have been supportive in my streaming efforts, do not get the wrong idea, it is work even though I am doing it for nothing. People assume because of sponsors your making money, most are friends and we trade advertising, basically just supporting one another and the site they have.

Some people are grateful to watch a FREE show and others will complain no matter what because that is just who they are. I do not charge for my stream and most times play in the tournament I am streaming so at times I will not be up to date with the score, one camera angel, not so hot commentary, loud music because its a poolroom and I have 0 control over that aspect or the lighting and internet they have there. I am a pool player first, I love to play and sacrifice being able to play as much as I like or be really focused in a tournament that I am in because I am streaming. It is like trying to run a tournament and play in it at the same time, not easy.

People do think it is so simple to do and in reality it is not all that difficult, just shell out a few grand in equipment, tons of time trying to make improvements without spending anymore money or as little as possible, countless hours of promoting the stream and time setting up, staying at a venue all day and night, break the equipment down at the end and come back the next day and do it all over again. You have to pay your gas to and from the tournament, your entry into a tournament you will be half focused on, food and drinks, a weekend tournament will probably run me $100-$200 to stream it to people for nothing and that is if its a local thing, if its out of town the cost could be $500-$1000.

For me its a fun way to support the game and enable people who want to learn, cannot leave home or do not have a poolroom nearby to see pool and promote the game. 95% of pool streams are FREE, the other 5% charge, I have no problem with that because they have invested a good deal of money, usually have several people working, multiple cameras, and top notch players and I myself buy the streams from time to time and hope I have time to sit back and enjoy the show. My stream has local guys who do play well and some are world beaters, occasionally Frost or Ellerman are featured guys.

As for issues with pop ups or whatever, its usually a problem on your end, get Ad Block Plus, its a free add on for your browser and blocks pop ups all over the net because these days most videos sites have them to make money, a 15 second pop up ad is not that bad anyway, on FREE tv there are plenty of ads. Complaints by people who cant see the stream, well that usually means your flash player is not working right or out of date, that is your problem so fix it. Your stream is choppy but everyone else is having a smooth feed, get a new computer or check your internet connection, dial up is a thing of the past. Also make sure other memory hog programs are not running in the background, it will slow your computer and make the stream choppy also. I am sure there are other things that can cause issues, the internet is not TV, there are a few more things in the chain and TV has had a big head start, internet streaming will continue to improve though mainly when internet connections on both ends get better.
