i have 4 tubes of Aron Alpha medical grade super glue for sale.it is gel for tips and the bond is 2x as strong as any of the Loctite brands for plastics.the tensile strength of the bond on plastics and phenolics is 3600 psi and aluminum is 5000 psi range.

the tubes are 20 grams and they are fro sale for $20 shipped.i know that is alot for tips, but if you have a big repair business i think you could use it all before it goes bad.

if you don't make many cues or have a bunch of repairs these are not for you.it will be hard to keep the glue usuable if you don't use a lot.

this glue is from Japan and very hard to get in the Gel form.

Mason, How fresh is the stuff? What do you estimate the shelf life to be once opened? With Loctite for tip use, I am leery of bonding power after being opened for about 3-4 weeks, maybe less when its real hot here.

nobody is looking for a stronger bond on thier tips?wow.

it just cam in two days ago and is very fresh.i think the shelf life will be slightly longer than the loc-tite stuff.

Sales rep for 3-m products told me the same thing slows the chemical reaction down so it will last longer.

Truthfully, I don't remember when I started using 454 as a tip cement. I do remember that I called the Loctite Corporation in Cal. to find which glue would be best suited for tips. They connected me to a chemist there and I explained what I wanted to use the glue for, the different ferrule mat., what usually is the cause for tips to come off and so on. We talked for at least a half hour. His recommendation for the best glue that they had available, at that time, for most cases was 454. Since then they may have come up with better cements, I can't say, and of coarse, he was only talking about the LocTite product line.

He did tell me about the short shelf life and the much shorter, pot life. He said that the glue should always be kept refrigerated until opened. He said once opened, never to refrigerate it again. He said that once it's been opened that air will enter the tube and the refrigeration will condense the moisture and speed up it's degradation. I always order my supply of 454 from out of town distributors as two of the three places here in Cinti. that I know carry it in stock, just leave it on the shelves. The third place keeps it refrigerated but they are a long drive from my shop.

i have been researching these super glues for a few weeks and i think for loc-tite brands 454 and 416 would be the best for tips.i have used the 454 and it works well, but it still isn't what i consider perfect.i have still seen some tips pop off with it.

i think the strongest super glue loc-tite makes is the 380,but there is a problem with it.it is black and while i'm sure you could work around the color i would rather not have to worry about.

this Aron Alpha has twice the bond strength of even the 380 loc-tite and i wanted to check it out.i put 6 tips on with it yesterday.i guess time will tell, but so far it looks pretty good.

Loctite 454 is da nuts if in a hurry imo.
If not, I'm partial to white gorilla glue. More quiet and holds better than any superglue imo.

i tried the white Gorilla on my personal cue awhile back and didn't notice any difference in feel or noise, but it did hold pretty good.trouble is keeping pressure for 40 minutes or so.

i wonder what the bond strength is on that Gorilla glue.i have seen some people use it for cores and stuff which is a totally different subject, but i definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

trouble with 454 is the bond strength on plastic.it isn't that high, maybe 1500 psi or so.i guess if you had a bigger tenon it would fix that problem.

I used some Gorrila glue to rebuild broken blinds On a pool table. Standard brackets all broken ground them off took a 2x2 glue on one side water on the other clamped it for about 2 hours. You needed a prybar to remove the block. My friend built his entire garage cabinets with this glue and used wood biscuit tennon also been 2+ years no problem with joint seperation at all. As for the pool table been a month of play everyday nothing ome apart from kids playing on it or leaning against the blinds.

good stuff if you use water .

3TAPS

About a year ago or so, I sold some extra tubes of LocTite 409. Before I did however, I called and received the same exact information and shared it here. I don't believe Dick missed a thing.

I will repeat that it is imperative that you DO NOT refrigerate after opening. It serves no positive purpose.

Good luck with the sale Mason...good stuff.
