it starts with the prettiest woods in nature
Snakewood points into maple

Next you get the cue maker that is preferred by the top players in the country

you put a steel piloted joint on it if you intend to play with it,the slightly forward weight gives it that feel that most champions have preferred for decades

you put Irish linen on it because it feels the best in your hand,it absorbs the moisture from your hand. You are not just showing off.you plan to play this one

You get Bob Owen to make the cue,you gotta figure with guys like Jeremy Jones,Gabe Owen,Silver Ochoa playing the cues for the kinda dough these guys play for, that its going to play perfect

Then you get some ivory inlays, you don't want to look like a cheap hustler with no money who couldn't possibly have 2 quarters to rub together

Seriously who wants to gamble with a broke or some broke down pool bum.that's no way to get a game, you gotta at least have the image if you expect to play for big money. You gotta look the part.Let's face it,nobody wants to go up against some jerk who has to borrow money to eat

the big mistake people make,is thinking you gotta play good to win
gimme a guy with common sense and style and i will show you a winner

style is what we are talkin

So now you are giving yourself a chance to win.you look the part, you dress the part, even if you don't play high you can like the good things

oh yeah, maybe you can't have the best of everything, buy by golly who say's you can not have the best of anything

you know what you think when you see a great cue,you may have only imagined owning one,but here is your chance to step up

you show up at the room, eyes drift to your cue.not just the guys but the chicks that you thought about sparkin around with, she says "nice cue, mind if I look at it"

sure" you say "hit some balls, tell me what you think"

"you sure" says she
'I'm sure" says you

"Thanks"says she

"It's nuthin' says you
"
Feels good" says she

"lemme get you a beer"says you, begiing to see the possibility

this could be something starting,it all begins with a call to Dean,
you know him here on az,always giving people good deals

So quick Henry,Grab your phone and enter the world of possibilities

you know Dean doesn't do pics but this cue is in the gallery right here on AZ,Bob Owen posted it,Its new, never hit a ball brand new

Is it too expensive?naw

call and find out how easy it could be to be livin the life

you there,the married guy,yeah you

you could be gettin this for the little lady
maybe she would start liking the game, give you a little slack

your possibility is limitless

quit stallin

You gotta love Dean--he does everything a little different but always First Class!!

He's made me a believer, if Dean says its a "deal", it is!

And Mr. Owen makes a helluva cue--can't go wrong here.

Nice cue, Dean!

Can someone fill me in on the difference (if any) between a Bob Owen cue and a Shurtz cue? When googling "Bob Owen cues", the Shurtz Cues site is the top result, so maybe they're one and the same?

As a side note, the Shurtz website (http://www.shurtzcue.com/) is one of the best cuemaker sites I've ever seen. Tons of high-res pics of current and past cues, clear navigation, actually describes the construction techniques he uses, etc. Makes me want to buy one. I grew up about 60 miles from his shop in central Kansas.

Anyone know how his cues hit as compared to a Lambros? I'm guessing his Type II cues (fully cored) would be the closest.

the question"what is the difference between Shurtz cues and Bob Owen Cues?"
comes up frequently,so I will attempt to explain it.

Jack Shurtz is a legend in the Wichita , Kansas pool scene, everything from Pool tables to custom cues.Jack started making great playing sneaky petes and graduated to making a good quality players cue.
Along came Bob Owen and the quality took off at an exponential rate, the play which was always good became even better. The most remarkable difference came in the showpiece ,world class designs, fit finish etc

Unlike many of his contemporary competitors Bob brought old world craftsmanship
along with real life business responsible dependability to the cue making world

Not only do the cues play as good as any, they look as beautiful as the very best.

Bob owns and operates the pool room, and relieves honest players of their money on the one pocket table(yours truly fell victim to Bob's skillful shooting)

All of this keeps him busy and only able to make around 15 cues a year, but he actually delivers on time and I never heard of a disappointed customer.(other than the time he relieved me of my money on the one pocket table)

I hope this answers your question, good luck getting on his list, you will not
be disappointed

Dean
