Because the slates sit much flatter on a single piece of wood, as opposed to trying to flush up two separate pieces of wood. Once the slates were screwed down, they were completely flat across the seams![]()
Okay, I see where that's better. The wood you added to the rail tops, before the featherstrip, is that so your subrail extensions wouldln't interfer with the #6 pocket or too make the shelves deeper?
