Denser than alves and has that "ebony" aroma. Getting old sucks because I used to be able to remember this stuff. I've started labeling all my recent purchases.

dalmation ebony

There is a ebony called dalmation ebony.
The wood is in your picture doesnt look like dalmation ebony to me.
How about olive wood?

Black & White Ebony is diospyros embryopteris. Sometimes called Royal Ebony.
Dot or Dalmatian Ebony is a rare figure sometimes in B&W ebony.
Mun Ebony is diospyros mun.
All 3 seem to be found in Laos (SE Asia).

I also recently made a cue from some Funky Ebony. The wood / blank came from a 1920's Brunswick Balk Collender one piece House Cue.
