Funny pic/gif thread...

After watching the above video you now know why burros are turned out with sheep or goats as a protector of them .

Buffalo also hate dogs a little something to remember if you venture out to Yellowstone National Park or anywhere there will be free roaming bison / buffalo ha ha

I have great respect for buffalo! I was in my truck on the passenger side when a small herd, maybe twenty or so, ran my way. I was seriously into outdoor photography so I keep shooting as they run my way. One seemed to pass almost close enough to brush me, inches away from my open window I was sorta hanging out of. My brother was driving and said part of the effect was my medium range lens, he was actually a few feet away.

I have been up close and personal with tamer buffalo but unless handled near daily, no buffalo can be called really tame or so I believe. Bad tempered, not a short fuse but no fuse at all! Having a gimp in my giddy up I carefully measure distances around them. I saw people in Yellowstone sending their kids to go pose by buffalo to take pictures. Had them walk outside the safety barriers by cliffs to get pictures too. I had to wonder if the people were that stupid or had their kids heavily insured!

The donkeys are pretty mean too, killing dogs and coyotes. I had a quarterhorse that would attack anything in her vicinity not a horse or person. Just a mean bitch. I raised her from a short yearling and not being able to get low any other way after a major back surgery I sat flat on the ground and told her to give me a hoof my wife was concerned about. We were tight. All my horses would give any hoof or load in a trailer at a word. Regardless of other things, my horses had manners!

After you 3 hook your opponent

My brother-in-law was in the horse pasture with me when he felt the need to shake the dew off his daisy. He turned from my direction and and let fly in front of the horse. The horse bared his teeth like that and turned his head up making a sound that did sound like snickering! Dee said, "You can laugh, this is all I've got!"

I told Dee he could laugh last, the gelding didn't have any balls.

Another thing when a buffalo raises its tail it's time to start backing away from it to a safe location or as safe as possible because things are about to get real in a bad way for you !

I was asked to come help vaccinate and dehorn some buffalo at a friend's place , mainly because I'm a giant compared to them and my job is to hold their head with nose tongs on a rope while their in a squeeze chute .
It worked well until we got to the one coming 3 year old bull we got the one horn removed and I just about got his head to the breaker point where it's a little easier to control when he decided to show me who was really in control of the situation by throwing his head away from me pulling me in contact with his head where we just cut the horn off of knocking the wind out of me but thankfully I didn't drop the rope and wasn't seriously hurt ( we were a long way from a hospital that I'd trust )
After a few minutes I was back to feeling better and we got through the remainder of the buffalo .

The squeeze chute was made from heavy 2" steel pipe that was reinforced .
Even when we went out to feed the herd it took us 2 + hours to find the 300 buffalo in that huge pasture ha ha

I liked working livestock, particularly off the back of my foundation quarter horse. I cut 99 head of calves off of the cows in less than two hours one morning. I did have some men on the gates.

I wanted to take Shorty and do one of the buffalo round-ups but it never worked out to happen.

I am sure you know, buffalo and bulls can be dangerous without horns. I knew two brothers and a father with a livestock company. Never met the oldest son, a bull with horns cut back so far to look almost muley headed hooked him in the ribs and busted up a bunch of internal organs, more than he could spare. Best I can recall the young man was dead on the spot.

I used to help a cousin work cows sometimes. He had some 6-8 years old in the Morganza spillway who had never been touched. You worked them until they got too pissed then they worked you! I was on foot one day when he asked me to keep seven of them in a cul-de-sac. I turned them once, I turned them twice, the third time I turned them was towards me! Feet do your thing! I headed for a pretty good little dip. When I got to the bottom I took a hard left. As expected the cows kept going straight. I didn't get them, they didn't get me. That particular time that was good enough. We had hundreds more cows to catch.

Or all the birds that fly a bit to close to one of those windmills .
Almost hard to believe how many birds are killed. I think it is because of the wind farms being placed in natural flight and migration paths. They kill a ridiculous number of birds, considering both raw numbers and the particular birds they kill.

I believed a lot more birds are killed by cats, or from fly into buildings, than are killed by turbines.

You are probably right if only because of the relative scarcity of turbines. However, if you do a little research I think you will be surprised with just how many birds are killed. I thought it was a touchy-feely BS issue when I first read about bird strikes. It is a real and serious issue.
