Funny pic/gif thread...

Gotta tell this story that comes to mind. My friend Roland had been an equipment operator, never did any climbing. He was out of work and a friend said he could get Roland a job with the boilermakers, union scale. Roland wasn't sure what was involved boiler making but union scale couldn't be too bad. He and the other man are working off of some scaffolding much like this guy is on except those X braces he is standing on are in place to stabilize the A-frame scaffolding.

They go about eighty feet up the scaffold and get to a damaged area of the boiler. A little cutting grinding and welding and they are ready to go up to the next level. They had been standing on one two by twelve scaffolding board. The boilermaker Roland is helping grabbed the scaffolding end piece and stands on the little bar. "OK, grab the board and move it up to the next level." You know, the board Roland is standing on. Roland told the guy he was crazy, might have added a few flourishes to his speech.

The man looked at Roland, "You haven't been a boilermaker long have you?"

"As long as I am going to be!" Roland's boilermaker career lasted two hours and thirty minutes.

I always hated that scaffolding. About 100-120 feet high and if you hadn't been able to stabilize it a few places it wanted to rock and roll! I have built a bunch of it but not standing on those X braces that have a big hole and pin midway to let them form an X for stability. Looks third worldish where he is at but no way would I consider doing what he is doing! I would be doing a little retiring my own self.
