Fancy a game? WTF kind of expression is that?!

like Costner in Field of Dreams, "wanna have a catch?" ... WTF!!!??? LOL :D

If it were me (me being one of the 3 guys) ... I woulda asked how much $$$ you (original poster) had on you. I love when guys ask to play for money without ever seeing me shoot. I usually ask if they have a favorite course (golf), and they usually reply, I don't play that game....to which I say, I only play this one when I can't play that one ;)

Question to you 9 ball?

Are you female?
If "yes", then I'm impressed.;)
If "no", then I'm not impressed.:D

I believe he is British. That's the way they talk over there. Or maybe Welsh.

I think this is a funny thread.

I have gotten to the point in my game where I want to PLAY. I do not want to play against players that have no prayer in beating me. There is no challenge to it and most of the time they want to play for beer. I can buy my own.

Here is my funny story:

I am at a local room just hitting some balls waiting for the league to finish so I can grab some action. Some kid in a hoodie walks over to me, without even watching me hit a ball, and says "Bet you a beer I can beat you.". I am in no way in a mood to play some moronic kid who plays in the rec league with a bar cue and no stroke so I reply,"Bet you a hundred you can't." He got a little pissy about why I had a problem playing for beer. I simply picked up my FULL beer and said,"beer I have, $100 I want." He later asked his teammate, within earshot, "what is his problem? I think he is scrared to play me for a beer." His teammate, my neighbour :D , replied,"That's Jason....he is trying to save you beer money. Say thank you.":D

That really made me laugh.

Is this a funny story that everyone laughs at or am I going to get roasted here?:o

I'll say the obvious. Nobody likes a braggart. It's not impressive to most on this site to run a rack or two, so to brag about it like you're some incredible player who scares off everyone watching is just laughable to the majority who frequent this site. Didn't you know that 5 and 7 packs are quite common according to many on this site! :-)

Say PoolSponge,
Don't think anyone should roast you ,this happens all the time but your comment and friends reply was right on. You didn't say you ran #racks and mash the break and the 9 had to find a pocket. Can I use your remark??...LES

I so wholly agree. The most fun I have is when playing someone who's REALLY good (most recently Eric Harada) and losing most of the games.

Playing someone who I can kick around any way I want is just a bore -- and it doesn't improve my game much either.

Anyways, people are different, and I accept that.

Now that is funny. I've watched a lot of pool. Played a lot too, but I've certainly watched a lot. I've went to Planet (now Tigar) pool events, other big tournaments, TV, etc. Yup, I've watched a lot of pool. Alternate break could be the problem that I haven't seen it, but I've sat and watched really good players play winner breaks also.

What I'm getting at is I haven't seen many 5 packs and I've never seen 7.

LMAO

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it is not as common as people on this board seem to think it is.

I think that I had jst posted this in a recent thread.... It does happen, but no where near as often as people seem to attribute it.... MY best EVER was six racks and two of those racks were nine's on the break.... I can count the number of five packs that I've seen on one hand and I play and watch a LOT of pool....

Hell I put up six packs all the time...and if the mood is right, and I off work the next day, I can put up a 12 pack. You guys are rookies...oh wait, we are talking about running racks of nine ball...nevermind...i suck.

yup!

According to what I read I am one of the worst players on the board and have never been any count. Fortunately, I have often been able to catch people when they were having an "off day".

I was talking to a guy at a tourney last Friday and he was saying how he has ran a 7 pack on the barbox in 8ball and a 6 pack on an 8 foot table. Yet when I played him he couldn't run 4 balls. Not calling anyone liars but I believe it when I see it. If I haven't seen it then I just say - ok show me homey.

9 ball said:
I was in the club yesterday just brushing up on my 9 ball game when I noticed a group of 3 guys playing 8 ball but one of them seemed to be sitting out for long periods (I guess he wasn't shooting well) anyway, I racked up 9 ball proceeded to crush
e rack and runout which got the guys attention.

Next I racked up 15 ball rotation again crushed the rack and ran 13 of the 15 balls now this REALLY has the guys attention so finally I rack 1 final game of 9 bal and snap the 9 in off the break, by this time all three of them are looking at me so I said "anyone fancy a quick game of 8 ball".

The fear on their faces was priceless you could actually see them swallowing hard and desperately wanting back peddle as one of them spoke up stuttering and stammering "eh, no you're alright".

Its the funniest thing i've seen in years.

And what you have done had the man sitting in the chair get up and say - yeah, 9 ball $50 a rack?!

Now, seeing the look on your face would be priceless.:D

I know if I got a 6 pack in either 8 or 9 ball I'd be on top of the world! My best to date is two 5 packs in 9, and one 5 pack in 8 and that's playing for 20 plus years!

I wish I could say 3 packs were common to me. Do they happen sometimes..........yes..........common?.........No.

I must really, really suck. :p Guess I'd better get off of this forum and go practice some more. :D

Later guys.

I can believe that someone occasionally has a magic night, been there myself, but it doesn't define them as a player. I suspect that the same errors that make a player miss sometimes compound with other errors to make them pocket balls. What I want to know is what game can I put on the table over 90% of the time if I really need to?

Used in reference to other shooters but I once read that what distinguished the best shooters wasn't the quality of their best days but the quality of their average and even bad days. I think the same is true of pool players. How you play on your best day rarely matters, what you can bring to the table on demand is what is important.
