Thanks

gabe beat manny 2 sets at 2500 a set and then left without paying the time .tar had to pay the pool time.

I'm betting that is just an oversight. Doesn't sound like Gabe.

Well, if you ask Big Nasty, I don't think he would say it was an oversight. Chad is pretty mad about it all. He said that Gabe mentioned something about not paying. He also didn't want to be taped while playing. I never hear anything bad about Gabe and he usually comes off pretty good, so hopefully this is just an oversight or something.

Unbelievable but believable

Same old scenerio of pool players being pool players. One more reason the game doesn't get any respect. The players don't respect the game.

I sure hope this is bad info being relayed here but it sounds so far to be true.

It appears that the riff between Gabe and TAR is not getting better. Hopefully Gabe will see all the good that TAR does for pool and have a paradigm shift. Personally I have known Gabe since he was a teenager and he has generally acted in a very professional manner and I hope that he can see the light and embrace the TAR Nation.

Was this tourney? Doesn't sound like it...so then, how does Manny play Gabe?

M was getting the 8 playing 10B and, IMO, it wasn't much of a gamble.

Unless there is history the riff between G and TAR is confusing. Perhaps G doesn't realize that, as of now, there just isn't enough grease to keep everything slick.....someday there may be providing everybody works together

Upsetting

I consider myself a fan of the sport and willing to pay for the priviledge to watch some good pool. But, Gabe is pissing me off. He does not want the fans that are willing to pay to watch his matches to watch.

He would rather try and slide up on one of us unknowingly and take off with the cheese.

Doesn't he know it is impossible to be incognito as a former US OPEN champion. So, what gives? The only person hurt by this was Manny who has his face blasted accross the internet for all to see. I just don't get it. Plus, he would have to pay for the time if they played on the non tv table and with 5 g's in your pocket the $58.50 was not going to kill him especially knowing the action report is not making any money off it.

Gabes complaint is only valid if TAR is profitable and he is not receiving a cut. Something, I have never heard a complaint about from any of the players.

After watching into the wee hours last nite Gabe chose not to
pay the table time after winning five thousand dollars,
Gabe said he would not be paying his table time.

TAR, The Action Report people that broadcast the game free for
the hundreds and hundreds of viewers, kept us laughing during
a very boring (at least for most of the game), stepped up and paid the table time.

I was totally saddened with Gabe Owen's behavior.
Winning that much money and to blow off the bill, tsk tsk tsk.

No one made him play on the table, no one made him get into
the game, but someone should have made him pay the time,
or bar him from playing there the rest of the tourney.

It's really sad when people get their heads so big they think
they are better then the rest of us.
Gabe shame shame shame.

No longer a fan of yours.

I know it sounds like I'm pleading his case, but it is not the Gabe I know. I'm betting there is another side to the story.

Story about Gabe

Jeremy Jones and Gabe comes thru South Georgia in the late 90's, cannot remember the exact year. We didn' know either one of them and we had Jeremy pegged as the champion. (Little did we know of how much of a champion he was) Well after a little talking I asked Jeremy to play some snooker on a 5x10 with tight pockets for a couple of hundred a game. I knew that I didn't have a chance at the 9 ball. Now I still haven't seen this guy hit a ball yet. Well we get to playing and the game was pretty close to even until he got the roll of the table down. And then he could let that stroke out and man was it powerful. But I still held the fort down. Well as we are playing and paying off after each game with Gabe I win a set and I break the balls and walk over to Gabe to get the money. He makes a scene about he has already paid off. I tell him he hasn't and I wouldn't cheat anyone. But I always check my money just in case I screwed up. Well I didn't have alot of money on me and Jeremy and myself knew how many games we had played and who had won which games. Well the money in my pocket verified that I wasn't paid. Gabe is still refusing to pay and making a complete idiot out of himself, well I politely tell him that he owes me the money and that he is going to pay it. Jeremy finally walks over and tells him that I am right and to pay off, which he did while still saying that he already had and tried to talk Jeremy out of it. I have nothing but complete respect for Jeremy for the way he handled himself and he was a complete gentleman to gamble with. But I cannot say the same for Gabe.

Just a little bit later someone is looking at a pool magazine and sees Jeremy's picture on it and tells me that this is the guy I was playing snooker with. Then I knew that he was the champion. Very nice guy though. I talked to him this year at the DCC and he still remembered the match.

By the way he came out 2 games ahead I think. But it was worth playing him.
