Just to set it straight.
Number 1, I didn`t start this post.number 2,I watched both sets and listened to the conversation afterwards.I only posted what I and everyone else that was watching could hear from the live feed.Manny had given his drivers liscense to hold the table.After the sets manny went to get his license back and them came to tar and said that gabe didn`t pay the time and that qmasters wouldn`t give him his licsenes back until the time was paid.Tar said "he didn`t pay the time".Manny said "no" so Tar told manny to tell qmasters He would take care of it.That `s what was said directly over the live feed.I and many others heard it.Tar was suprised that the table time wasn`t paid.Ask anyone else that watched it.
As for my low post,what was your post score (0) until you worked up to your current score.My low post number has nothing to do with it.
If there was a miss understanding between gabe and tar then I1m sure it will get worked out.I just know what was said on the live feed by tar and manny.

All I can say is I know the 'rift' between them goes a little further, but it's not my place to air people's business. And I hope they get it worked out.

I know Gabe, and obviously many other people including on this forum, would love nothing more than for TAR - as another promoter of the game, to be successful, and I think they would agree that the fans are a very important ingredient for that success.

But getting a little off this particular thread subject..... TAR streamed a match Gabe had with another player a long time ago....Gabe won quite a bit that night alright....but the loser's backers walked out on the last game, and the other player didn't have any money - so Gabe didn't even get paid a dime that night. (he finally got paid several months later - but that was no easy task either) I wonder what the pre-game table time agreement/and or other pre-game agreements was that night.

I recall when Gabe was about 18 yrs old, basically lived at Tulsa Billiard Palace - back when he practiced 8+ hours a day for several years. He got down to his last $10.00, as a guy from his last match didn't pay. Several at TBP insisted to loan him some money to get going again. But he refused money from everyone, saying he would just wait until the guy came in and paid.

Luckily TPB always gave him free table time anyway....so he just started building up again like at $1.00 - $2.00 a game with people, and waited several days until the guy showed up and paid. (has nothing to do with this thread's subject -tabletime issue with TAR - but thought I would mention that little story - as it gives a glimpse that he isn't out to 'get' anybody, is fairly patient about riding out the ups and downs of the career, and is usually pretty fair to people - and doesn't usually expect more than agreed upon)

Anyway....that's about all I have to say. I hope all players & professionals working in the business can continue to work together, to keep the 'rifts' that are surely going to arise at times minimal, so everyone can keep the game going as smoothly as possible and hopefully try to feed their faces at the same time, and give back to the fans. And you know....so many obviously do!

But occasionally there are issues that arise that need to be worked out between parties. Geeez, just read some of AZB's news stories that pop up on occasion! :eek:
But in this case, I"m sure both parties knows their issues, and will hopefully get them worked out.

Thanks for the clarification. Great action around, wish I were there in person to be able to watch and very much appreciate the broadcast from TAR. Hell, get Keith and Earl on and I'll pay the table time. Thanks again Nasty.

Defending your son is admirable but I'm not sure I would have put the quoted above paragraph within this thread. Seeings how the big debate / argument of this thread here seems to be about not paying table time or the misunderstanding of the match be played receiving free table time.

Sure would like it if the actual parties involved would clarify the alleged misunderstandings here so that we can all just move on in a positive direction.

Like most here, you weren't there and really don't know what happened.

So many are so quick to pass judgement on top players without having any idea of the history or the real truth. It is a bigger world than what we see here or gossip about.

Before calling a man an ASS, in front of his mother, you should have more of the facts. That disrespecting him and his MOther and just wrong!

So much talk goes on here about the game and it's image. Things are tough enough on everyone without all this BS and gossip. Things happen behind the scenes we never know anything about and most pros aren"t about to share it here on the gossip box. This is evidence as to why.

Sorry, I could have probably said it more clearly.

I didn't mention or mean for that 'free table time' to have anything to do with this thread's 'table time'. I just mentioned that 'free tabletime' to help show how he could even begin to build back up again with only $10.00.

I'm sure that had Gabe & Manny simply matched up, wherever they played, the winner would simply pay the table time.

But since it's been said that TAR stepped up and said they would pay it, if Gabe agreed to letting them stream it, then Gabe left it to TAR to pay it.

Maybe we'll hear more....but that seems simple enough to me.

i guess that is the way you raised your son.....if i would have won 5k, hell even 1k....i would have payed....TAR is no NBC or ESPN yet.....help them out for doing what they are doing for pool...and if gabe lost....and manny didnt pay.... i would be typing the same damn song....

Look, I'm entitled to my opinion as much as anyone else is on here, and its just that, an opinion. I didn't mean any disrespect to Gabe's Mother. From what I saw, I didn't like the way he has conducted him self.

I think its pretty crappy that guys screw up new members rep's just because they don't like their opinions on a subject. If we all of us gave bad reps to people's posts we didn't agree with we would all be in the red.

You complain about people like me running off the pros? What about guys like you that run off new members because you give them bad reps for posting their opinions. Are pros not capable of acting like an ass? I think we all have at some point, you most recently.

I didn't give you any bad rep. Don't intend to. I never have.

Like me or not, I could care less. I just don't think it right to call someone an ASS in front of his MOTHER. Particularly when you don't know the guy or very much about him.

Might as well add my P/O. First off I must say this is about Gabe and not his Mom. Anyone who attacks her is way out of line.
Even though i dont agree with calling names, i must say The-Hill is entitled to his P/O and not receive bad rep.
I hate seeing threads like this, it usually turns out way different than what was stated. Feelings are hurt, flame wars start, no one benifits. We end up losing a newbie who may have had alot to bring to the forum. We lose posting of pro's who dont want to hear the crap.
 
I don't know what the agreement if any was about time before the match started. It doesn't really matter.

Gabe has one dvd with us, the finals of the US Open One Pocket vs Tony Chohan. It has sold less than 50 copies. We pay $2 per DVD for a match recorded during a tournament. He asked for money because he was broke. I sent him a money order to an address in Atlanta, KS. for $100 which was more than we owed him.

I go to Kansas City after this and hear about how we owe Gabe money and that he wont do anything with us because we don't pay. Does he pick up a phone and ask Chad or myself about his concerns ? . No. He goes around telling people we aired him. That really pisses me off.

The gambling match that was referenced took place at the Qlympics. It was a cluster from the beginning and went forever ending in a pro-rate. We don't do dvd's of matches that last 8 hours with no resolution. Not all of the money for that match was put up with us. The part that was got paid. That is a story all its own and Bartram was the one who ended up getting screwed by Gabe and Corey in Columbus.

Bottom line is this. We have paid Gabe more roylaties than what he was due. The dvd he was on is no longer for sale and will never be sold again. His image will never be used on any TAR materials. As far as I am concerned our business is done.

Gabe sure doesn't need TAR and we will survive without him so we can both just move on.

Thanks for the explanation Justin. I know my opinion means squat but after all this drama, I have lost respect for Mr. Owen. I understand disagreements occur but what really bothers me is that Gabe won't even discuss matters with your guys. I heard Nasty on air the other night trying to get Gabe to discuss the matter with him in private, but he wouldn't.

TAR has shown much class.
