Gabe Owen Thread Removed? Mod please at least give me your thoughts

I wish it was the case that for every thread we have had on az discussing the legal woes of great players we had an equal amount of threads talking about the great success stories of other players. Sadly this is not the case, and when it does come up on the rare occasion, the achieving player usually found the financial success away from the table.

The state of affairs with the USA Professional game is creating alot of pressure to take risky and illegal actions by people who have to pay the bills in their lives.

Alot of people would disagree and say that this is a character issue but im very sympathetic to the problems facing players who are facing legal woes on financial based crimes.

Now guys like Vickery, well thats another story. I dont have alot of sympathy for that.

Espresso in Germany generaly isn't good. Try Italian once :)
I recommend illy coffee

As a Navy veteran who'd been just about all over the world, I haven't tried espresso in Germany, but I can definitely attest to having real espresso in Italy, Spain, Greece, and Turkey. And of all of them, I remember Turkish espresso being the most potent!

In NYC, there are some good Italian coffee shops that serve espresso, and it's also very good.

I prefer coffee products from these local specialized cafes and boutiques, rather than the large foo-foo coffee chains like Starbucks. After you've had a quality coffee -- at a fifth of the price, mind you -- from a local specialized cafe, you'll realize why they call that chain "Charbucks" (both syllables accurately describing the product and the amount you spend, respectively) :)

Just having fun!

She ordered a daily double shot soy milk latte grande.

How would you punctuate the above sentence? Commas? Hyphens? Leave it exactly the way it is?

Answer coming tomorrow morning. :D

Here is how i would edit this sentence.

She (hope its a she, you never know these days)

Ordered (sounds kinda dictatorial to me)

Daily Double (I bet Keith knows the answer to this one)

Shot Soy milk Grande (sounds disgusting to me)

Grande (what a lot of us on here think we are)

Jam.. Here are my thoughts.

Don LOL

Addiction is part of human nature, ever since monkeys found fermenting fruit. I like Colombian.

Fermenting fruit? Eeewww! :o

Can't got wrong with Colombian. I used to like Sumatra, but I'm now hooked on Pleasant Morning Buzz.

Maxwell House came out with a line in "flavor-locked lid," which I tried. They're not too bad, and you can't beat the price. I got South Pacific blend. :)

Not sure what their reasoning is, but it doesn't make a lot of sense - people get accused of things on these forums all the time without threads getting pulled, such as failing to pay bets, ripping off someone on goods & services, dumping, etc. If AZ was super concerned about covering their ass legally then they'd have to shutter the action room, several states prohibit gambling on the outcome of matches even if it's a friendly bet and the forum's not taking any piece of it.

I bought Starbuck's coffee, course ground it and put it in my French press...I had to double the normal scoop to get the same boldness.:frown:

WebMD Health NewsReviewed by Louise Chang, MDMarch 28, 2012 -- Ground green coffee beans, taken daily, seem to spur steady weight loss, according to new research.

In a small, 22-week study, researchers found that 16 overweight men and women lost an average of 17 pounds. They took the green (unroasted) coffee beans in supplement form and, for comparison, took a placebo at a different point of the study.

They did not change their diet. They were physically active. They lost more while on the supplements than while on placebo. They lost the most when on the higher of two coffee bean doses.

"We don't think it's the caffeine in it," says Joe Vinson, PhD, professor of chemistry at the University of Scranton.

He presented the findings Tuesday at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego. The results echo those of earlier studies, but Vinson used a larger dose of the green coffee beans.

The study included people 22 to 46 years old. It was funded by Applied Food Sciences, which makes the green coffee antioxidant supplement.

The results are interesting, but the study was small and short, so further study is needed, says Connie Diekman, RD, director of university nutrition at Washington University in St. Louis. She reviewed the findings for WebMD.

Green Coffee Beans for Weight Loss: Study Details
Vinson and his colleagues gave the men and women in the study a 700-milligram (mg) dose of the ground coffee beans and a 1,050 mg dose. They also gave them a placebo or inactive dose during the 22-week study.

The men and women cycled through each phase for six weeks. In between, they had ''wash-out'' periods where they didn't take any supplement. In this way, they served as their own comparison group.

"Their calories were monitored," Vinson says. They were not put on diets. Calorie intakes stayed about the same during the study. They averaged about 2,400 calories a day -- by no means a weight reduction plan.

They burned, on average, about 400 calories a day in physical activity, Vinson says. The study was done in India.

The 17-pound loss was the average. Some lost only about 7 pounds; others about 26 pounds.

Overall, body weight declined by an average of 10.5%. Body fat declined by 16%.

The study participants lost slightly more weight with the higher dose compared to the lower dose, but not a significant amount with the placebo, Vinson says. Vinson can't say for sure why the coffee bean extract seems to help weight loss. He suspects one explanation is the unroasted beans' chlorogenic acid.

Chlorogenic acid is a plant compound. It may have ''some effect on keeping down glucose absorption," which in turn helps reduce weight, Vinson says.

Once coffee beans are roasted, the chlorogenic acid breaks down.

None of the people in the study reported side effects, Vinson says. The capsules are extremely bitter, he says. They are best taken with a lot of water before a meal, he says.

A larger study of about 60 people is planned, Vinson says.

These findings were presented at a medical conference. They should be considered preliminary, as they have not yet undergone the "peer review" process, in which outside experts scrutinize the data prior to publication in a medical journal.

I can see your point, if this was a "private" or "members only" forum, but it's not. This is a public forum -- moderated but public.

AzBilliards is cached on the Internet. If you search for a pool-related topic and a pool player's name, it will appear on Google.

Because the content on AzBilliards is cached on the Internet, it could cause problems. Better to employ an ounce of prevention in this regard. ;)

Now, what's your favorite coffee drink?

I bought Starbuck's coffee, course ground it and put it in my French press...I had to double the normal scoop to get the same boldness.:frown:

My girlfriend swears by that French press. I use a gold cone.

I spoke with Gabe yesterday. He bought gold coins in a plastic sleeve (which you do not remove or it lowers the value as this is a grading package that shows the numismatic value of the coin) and then re-sold them to a coin store.

The coin store then discovered they were fake. The police are looking for the folks who made the coins. They are not after Gabe at all. Gabe is taking legal action against the TV station and the coin store for defamation of character due to those reports.

AZB would very much like to remain out of the courtrrom. If this thread goes back to spouting rumor and conjecture that is false it will go away again.

Wow, that is all... that's a relief. Seems like much ado about nothing... I didn't even know he was in "trouble", I think I spend too much time in NPR, and when I googled it, the only thing I found was "Gabriel Owen" arrested for kidnapping plot... and I was like, holy smoke, what the hell happened???

I"m glad that was NOT him..... but it took a few articles to find one with a photo, and it was not "the" Gabe Owen.

What? This is a private forum. It is privately owned and requires membership. Perhaps one of the moderators can enlighten us. Anyway, Creedo, makes a valid point which shouldn't be dismissed so lightly.
And, what is this circling the wagons crap? Get your head out of the sand.

I have a buddy here locally who imports and roasts fine coffees in small batches. Unparalleled freshness and flavor. Youre jealous but just don't know it yet

Let me know if u want his #, he does ship nationwide.

I feel this very reasonable post hasn't had enough attention paid to it.
Now, if Gabe needed money for lawyers, this is a cause I could get into.

And the term 'latte grande' is quite acceptable, in the original language or
in English......
...or maybe someone here would like to chastise Rudyard Kipling for writing
" the epitaph drear".;)

And anyone who uses oxymoronic 'soy milk' in their coffee is eligible for
the orange crush from any decent road player.

pt..<..loves MickyD's coffee black

My favorite Starbucks drink is a grande skinny wet cappuccino with one pump of sugar-free vanilla and whipped cream. :D

I just like ordering their java du jour with cream and honey and like a surprise as to the flavor. I tried a couple of those fancy drinks but I prefer just plain coffee.

If the rest of you keep talking about coffee I am going to whine like a baby to the moderators and ask that this thread be moved to its proper forum.

"She ordered a daily double shot soy milk latte grande." I would have punctuated that sentence by vomiting on it.

Folgers makes me happy.

Apparently there is more than one Gabe Owen. I saw one where a guy named Owen got all tanked up with booze and beat his dog, Gabe, with an aluminum bat. This winner is facing cruelty to animals charges. Totally different set of Gabes' and Owens'

Coffee

I used to like the Cain's line of premiums (Morning cup / Sunny cup ? / and one more can't remember). When we were in Tulsa a couple of years ago we grabbed a couple of cans at the grocery store. Does anyone know if Cain's still services restaurants, etc.?

A guy in this area has a coffee business called Eiland coffee. This guy is a true guru. He served us a latte that he drew up for us. Quite a talented barrista as well. Then he let me sample a cold coffee that is actually ice brewed for something like 12 hours. I believe that was an African bean.

He probably has a website, check it out. But to get some of the stuff I mentioned you'll have to go to Richardson, TX. He is on Interurban St. just E. of I-75.
