Gabe Owen Thread Removed? Mod please at least give me your thoughts

Hmmm, no. "You can't cheat an honest man." WC Fields

Back on topic: the espresso in northern Italy has been depressingly poor. However, the prosciutto, parmigiana, pasta, and wine have more than made up for that :-)

Lou Figueroa

I don't think that cliche applies here. The story in Jerry's post didn't contain any cheating at all. It was about a guy who bought a legitimate product that he could then resell at a profit. That's not cheating, that's business.

I don't know if that story is true any more than anyone else, but if that's the way it went down, Gabe didn't do anything wrong.

Keep your nose in the air, Lou.

The truth of the matter is that neither you nor I know if anyone did anything right or wrong. But, generally speaking, the aphorism is true.

Speaking of truth, the truth will out, in time. So I suppose we should all just chill and then we can see whose nose is out of whack.

I don't like milk in my tea but I love thai iced tea. I guess that's sweet cream and whatever else they use... it's overwhelmingly sweet at first but not difficult to acquire the taste.

CreeDo,

If you ever get into trouble with the BCAPL, one of the key personnel LOVES iced Chai tea. You didn't hear that from me though ;) .

Really miss the coffee stand at the Riv. The one that used to be out front by the ABC store. They had the best Chai tea. Would make it with low fat milk if you asked nicely. Think it was missing when I was there in April for the APA's.

Should've had the breakfast croissants with bacon or ham and a V8. That combo works wonders I'm tellin ya. :p

Damn it Banks, you're right again! I should have had a V8. Hope to see you in July.

Trying to decide what to do on that one. I can either throw a few hundred more at my car, which is almost paid off now.. or I can take my g/f out to Maine in the fall.. or I can play in the Open 8b event. Unfortunately, the last one isn't sounding as good as the other two right now. Between the $160 or so entry, another $200 airfare, at least $100-150 rooming and the couple days of PTO I'd have to use.. I may have to pass yet again. I know, I should've thrown the money at the entry after getting paid in Vegas, but the damn car's about a grand from being paid off now and I'd really like to take the g/f back east. :o I do have a friend up here that's wanting to go, though, so he may be able to pressure me into it.

Spend it on the g/f and the car. Pool can wait. Maine is a beautiful place to visit. My last next door neighbor moved back to Portland after finishing his residency at UR Strong Hospital. Real life comes first.

If you decide on Maine, give a shout out when you're headed this way....

I lived there for about 8 years and you're right, it is absolutely beautiful. The g/f has never been. UR Strong? Heh, that's a pretty good name for a hospital.

Just sold my Joss n Pred. shaft, that I had for years, to a friend. Also sold the Pechauer I had picked up recently. I figure those could pay for half of the car or most of the plane tickets. Another month or so and I'm going to try to start up a small side business and my g/f has something small in the works, too. Between the two of us, we may actually be able to make a living! So much for excusing myself from the house as much as possible to play pool so that I can hustle in the future. :D

As Eric said.. to keep things on topic, this is what I got a few years back to stem the bleeding wallet. So, instead of blowing it all on pool and alcohol, I blew it on a car with a crappy resale value. The insurance killed me the first year.. driving while suspended, speeding ticket and bad credit don't mix well with a 'sports' car, at least when you don't make that much. :(

Oh, don't worry about that, I'd make sure of it. Need to convince the g/f that we can both take a week off of work in the fall, mostly unpaid, and still have it covered. We've got a little set aside for a future vacation, so that may be enough to get by. Looked at tickets today for early September and they were running right around $300 a piece. Gotta figure in another few hundred for a car and a bit more for expenses, but I can scratch that together by the time we go.

Quick Check

See, you New Englanders love Dunkin' Donuts. I knew it!

I used to love 7-Eleven coffee years ago. I asked them what brand they used, and I proceeded to buy that brand. I made it at home, and it didn't taste the same. :o

So then I brought home a 7-Eleven paper cup, and voila! That was the missing ingredient. Go figure! :p

I'm hooked on Whole Foods Pleasant Morning Buzz right now. It's the best, bar none, that I've ever had. If I don't have my Pleasant Morning Buzz when I wake up, well, the morning just ain't going to be very pleasant, if you know what I mean. ;)

Don't know if you have a Quick Check in your area..but both the regular and flavored Hot coffees are great and their Iced Coffee is the BEST. (The unsweetened Quick Check Iced Coffee)

This is way too interesting not to post here or even start another thread on for people to be aware of.

Wow. If you want to be crooked right now and make a ton of money the opportunity is out there thanks to China counterfitters.

Now I think I know why guys we know are falling off the radar.

These Chinese are taking it to a different level now. You can buy them for pennies.

I was thinking about the guy on the East Coast that made the fake $5 Casino coins that they could never separate because they were too good.

I have a close friend in HK, i met him while he was at UCLA, smart kid, square as a box. We were talking one day about counterfeit stuff, he was all proud "We can counterfeit everything real good" and laughed. he sells condo's in hk, but is aware of whats going on.

the tattoo shop i hang out in is kinda like the pool room back in the day, you never know who is coming thru the door, one night some shady looking guys were there and said they could hook us up with $100 bills for $45 in real money, wow-they were just blatant and open about it, there was not many ears around. I asked "Whats the limit?", "much as you like" he was dead serious. i left shortly after, thats the last thing i ever would do is get tied up in that racket. i saw it come thru the pool room in Sacramento back in 88, i passed on it then too.

I agree completely!!

But FB got me thinking about Hawaiian coffee. That's some good stuff!!

KP

But everyone buys the bitter strong burnt starbucks coffee and its near undrinkable black. You have to load it up so you dont gag.

I make my own or get DD and drink'm black no sugar.
