Galveston Team Payout

Sorry if this has been addressed already, but does anyone know what happened to the team payout? It looks like it went from $50,000 to $9,000???

payout

There were only about 30 teams in the event. Many of the teams had more than one master or known very good players. There was around 180 teams showing interest, but after seeing the rosters of other teams they backed out. As for the money, I thought the 50,000 was guaranteed, but due to the number of entrants, they said they could only put up 10,000.

If I was the winning team I would contact a lawyer to discuss what happened to the missing 41K in my check.

I went to the event for a long weekend and had a very good time, it looks like they might be able to make everything work after a few years of ironing out the kinks. I understand everything not being perfect the first year and give them credit for everything they did right.

I can't forgive them not putting up the money that they promised though, that is not right.

Hire an attorney??? Good grief!

That's a great way to make sure these promoters NEVER host another event EVER! That's the problem with alot of people today. Don't like what someone says? Sue. Didn't get what you think is coming to you? Sue! Spill coffee on yourself and are surprised that it's hot? Sue! good grief. I say enough of the lawer talk. It's not like they had 500 teams and still cut things short. These guys are already taking a beating on this event. I say cut them a little slack for their efforts. Perhaps next year enough teams will participate to cover a payout like that. Just my . 02

John: The amatuer teams will not attend until the roster problem is fixed. All-starring is not the answer to multible entries....SPF=randyg

Stay in your own profession.

Randy G knows what he is talking about. He has ran plenty of events. I doublt that he, Jay, myself or promoters who have been in the game long enough would offer a first place of $50,000 on anything. So I could put out a $50,000 guaranteed first place tourney and then say, well I only had 200 entrants so I can only pay $9000 for first. It is not supposed to work like that.

As far as who is an amateur or not. Really missed the boat on that one.

Very sad for all the players who did spend the money to go.

I believe that all the comments posted here are directed to helping next year's event, not hampering it's attendance.....SPF=randyg

I'm sure that next year's event will be alot smoother. You have to admit that many of the problems could have been solved before the event began.

Sad? All the reports I have seen are that the players who went had a great time and are excited about coming back next year. The whiners seem to be pretty much people that stayed home -- and *****ed about the prize money and *****ed about the *free* live stream.

You can't say b-i-t-c-h-e-d? Wow.

The website does say that the payout is for a full field of players. I don't think any of the events they had there filled up. I'm not sure how many people they had in the 8,9,&10 but the 1 pocket only had 88 players and the teams only had 34 teams.
