Get a NEW BLACK BOAR...around $6,000

This guys probably feeling a little inadequate with his pj's worth, or that he has champagne taste and beer pockets ????

DON'T THINK THAT'S IT.

PEOPLE WILL PAY WANT THEY WANT, FOR THINGS THEY WANT.

Marcus <------ DOESN'T THINK IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH A BEER BUDGET

Somehow we managed to take it to a whole different level...me included.

Wouldnt it be great if the next batch of players By Tony came out at $3-4000. I beleive it would be a nice idea to have more BB cues available to people that dont want to spend big bucks to get one

Steve

THE BS IS THE FUN PART OF THE FORUM.

WOULDN'T IT SUCKED FOR THE GUYS THAT BUY THIS BATCH, IF THE NEXT BATCH IS 2-3K LESS?

HOPE YOUR GOOD.

Marcus

On another note concerning his Quality:
Considering, most of his cues that are out on the market are around 20 years old, I find that it is amazing that you dont hear anything about warped shafts, or cracked ivory ferrules, or any other major defect or for that matter any minor defect, that I see people complaining about on this forum every day.

THIS IS NOT A SHOT AT BB, OR TONY......

I'VE SEEN SEVERAL "BAD" SHAFTS ON BB CUES, AS WELL AS CUES FROM EVERY CUEMAKER THAT HAS EVER LIVED.

I HAD A BB BROUGHT TO MY ROOM THAT THE GUY WANTED ME TO BUY, THAT HAD 3 WARPED SHAFTS.

IT HAPPENS TO ALL CUEMAKERS. EVEN THE "TOP TIER" GUYS THAT TAKE YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS TO AGE THE WOOD. NO CUEMAKER IS "IMMUNE" TO WOOD MOVING. IT'S A NATURAL MATERIAL, AND IT DOES GOOFY UNPREDICTABLE THINGS.

Marcus <----- NOT A SHOT AT TONY OR THESE CUES AT ALL!

I agree. I almost bought two different BB's at VF one year. It turned out they both had bad B joints and buzzed when you hit balls with them.

Ever since then I have been a little weary of BB cues. Are they beautiful? Yes they are. But to me, they're just priced a little too high.

My 2 cents

I remember when Tim Scruggs and JP Nusbaum introduced the Phantom. The price was 2K and they had no inlays but claimed to be great players. The cue got slammed by members of this forum, claiming they were not worth the money. I went against popular opinion and based on the trust I had in Tim and JP purchased one and I'm glad I did.
If Tony says this cue is a player you better believe it is and if you can't afford it or feel that it's overpriced, step aside.

TommyT

well well

wow! you da man! :)

you need to lay off the hallucinogens :groucho:

not positive . . . but possibly about the new world record highest price ever asked, for a plain player, from a cue maker.
(and in a terrible economic climate, ta boot)

there were bb's with more work, available for sale on the forum by azer's, for less money.
but from your posts, i take it the older bb's value would be down due to how much better the newest ones play!?

and it's not "whining", it's discussion about why the cues would be worth the asking price.

Well Jeff, I want to thank you for straightening me all out on all these subjects. You are just such a kind and helpfull guy for taking the time to give me your EXPERT knowledge on all things cues......LOL
Steve

bad examples

No B joint in a BB unless it's been "repaired".

nicely done.

Where did Steve ask for an opinion or "discussion" on the "Asking Price " He could have said these cues were $ 1000.00, and there would still be complainers.

Sorry to tip the Apple cart

Mike Cochran

Mike I like you soo much, i might have to buy you a bushel of apples for christmas!

the cuemaker can ask what ever they want imo! that is why we are americans happy independance day to all of you!! and honestly if Mcdermott can ask 50,000.00 for there intimadtor tony can ask 6000.00 for his! isnt america great God has blessed us! so let all get together and sing kum-by-yah!!

THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE QUOTES OF ALL TIME........who loves ya Marcus!.......;)

THANKS TIM.......

IT'S HORRIBLE THAT PEOPLE CHIME IN ABOUT WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE SHOULD SPEND ON A CUE.

IT'S ALSO HORRIBLE, THAT PEOPLE TAKE SHOTS AT OTHER PEOPLE WITHOUT KNOWING WHO THEY ARE TAKING SHOTS AT. KINDA LIKE ALL THOSE CUEMAKERS THAT WOULDN'T GIVE ME THE TIME OF DAY AT THE EXPO WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT CUES, BECAUSE "THERE WAS NO WAY THE YOUNG KID COULD BE SERIOUS" (SUCKS FOR THOSE A-HOLES)

HOPE ALL IS GOOD WITH YOU.

Marcus

I think it is great that he is selling these cues at any price. God for him and good for those that decide to purchase one.

I remember in the early 90's when I got the Black Boar catalog. You know the one with the Stradivarius Violin on it.

The basic 4 ebony point cue with no veneers and no inlays was priced at $495. The top of the line AS-10 was priced at $2995.
(Price list dated 7-1-90) In handwriting on the price list was the following: "10% discount if you order by 2-15-91"

I still kick myself for not buying one ....

Steve
all i did was comment on your posts.
made zero claims to being an expert on cues, or pool.
consider myself an independent thinker, as opposed to a crowd follower.
and probably just as bad a pool player as yourself.

if i was an expert, i'd make statements like . . .

"This post is meant for the few guys that actually have a clue to what they are talking about....LOL" :groucho:

VERY interesting "discussion" going on here. Unlike some, I enjoy the give and take and all the various opinions. . . . .
. . . . So that's just me. As you can see we are all different in how we view money and value. Black Boar is almost in a class by themselves right now. I can only think of a couple cue makers who can demand similar prices and get it. I say more power to Tony and congratulations on a job well done!

very nice post jay! :thumbup2:

the opinion/asshole line is a bit tiring . . .
don't know what data is behind the "Tony's cues have reached #1 on the charts these days. So his prices set the standard by which other cues (and cue makers) are compared."
comment!?
but you did mention there were a couple of other makers that could get similar prices.

that warren fellow though, probably spent more than 100k on home renovations recently!
guy's a freakin' spendthrift! :groucho:

This guys probably feeling a little inadequate with his pj's worth, or that he has champagne taste and beer pockets ???? You my friend might want to lay off the wacky stuff.............
sorry, but don't own any pj's, drink alcohol, or do the 'whacky stuff'
. . . if i did though, would take a brewski, over champagne, every time! :thumbup2:
