What does a Ginacue play like? Are the shafts Stiff, Medium or Whippy? Anyone know what kind of taper he uses on his shafts?

his cues play medium...the shafts have a modified european taper I would say that is medium stiff.

I really like the smooth hit and resonance...awesome playing cues - there is a reason he is a living legend

Pick up a Gina and you will know why they are so popular. Everything about them is outstanding.

When I was a kid growing up in Chicago I was very familiar with Rambow cues. I was vacationing in California and someone let me try their Ginacue. From that moment I had to have one.

When I got back to Chicago with my stick everyone said "What did you buy that for, it's not a Rambow." --- UNTIL THEY TRIED IT. Then the question was "Where can we get one?"

I still play with that cue. I haven't found another in 45 years that plays better, and I've tried a lot of them in that time. So when I decided I might want to go to a lighter cue, I called Ernie and have two more on order.

I wouldn't call his cues "stiff" hitting because to me that suggests no feel. But they are very solid with lots of feel and good feedback. And the fit and finish are top notch always. His craftsmanship is just simply unbelievable.

As a watch nerd myself, I equate and Ernie Cue to a Rolex. Patek is king of the hill as far as watches, but Rolex is still more consistantly perfect as far as fit and finish. Ernies cues play very consistantly, not so with other builders

And I forgot to mention, I'm very partial to the hit of an ivory ferrule.

The comparison to a Rolex is interesting except that a Ginacue keeps better time. ;)

I have bought, sold and shot with a MORE than a few of these cues in my day, and they are at the very top of the food chain in both build quality and playing quality.

Now that I'm getting a new, Diamond Pro-Am in my basement, I will have the perfect testing ground for cues. I'm experimenting with a few other cues right now, but I promise you I'll get another one of these in the future. When I do, it will probably be the one that other cues will get measured against....

And I feel sorry for the other cues.

i do not own one but i got the privilege to try one. what can i say... the cue's playability is outstanding overall. hits medium-stiff and you just can't describe the feeling that everything is in harmony, the feel, the hit, the balance. a great cue indeed. :)

Ernie builds great cues, there is not a weak link in the chain, everything bout his cues is among the best. Its impossible to find a bad one, I have owned alot of them over the years, mostly for re-sale. I own one of the biggest cues he has ever sold and even though its a "Gallery" cue-it still plys like a players cue, his shafts are top notch too, i have some on a Szam I bought from a friend.
