Possibly you haven't heard the buzz...but several WORLD CHAMPIONS are playing each other in IPT events for $5,000.00. And many others are traveling all over the United States entering tournaments offering a couple of thousand dollars in prize money.

(-:

These IPT events have been exhibitions with no monetary risk by the parties involved. You obviously don't understand gambling. Here, Mr. Pierce is making a very open challenge in hopes that one player will accept. Once this match is made, which is not likely, he will try to bet every $$$ he can. This will be done because the opportunity will not arise more than once. You see, it must be for alot of $$$ because it is a once and only opportunity (and probably not that).

Lets face it, there are only 3 women that may even consider this challenge...Allison, Karen and Kelly F. (nothing against the other ladies). I know Kelly posts here some, but I havent seen her jump at this. Reed is fantastic player and gambler. JMO.

How in the world are they gonna play Reed Pierce when they can't even beat B Whizzle? :D

I tend to agree with Jay that it wont be long before some Pinoy gal or maybe an Asian gal from Taiwan or China emerges with the skills to take on the men. They have really young males who have not even finished puberty coming of age with the talent to take this challenge, it doesnt seem logical that women would be that far behind.

Roger Bannister ran a 4 min mile and prior to that no one had done it. Now they have kids in high school running at this level. The high levels of pool being played by the men should be achievable by the women, especially if the men take it to a new level. The game of pool is being so heavily promoted in Asia compared to the USA, it wont be long before some gal emerges that has the talent of a circa 1990s pro male imo.

I have never been too shy to put myself in pecking order with the best players in the world. The men play awesome but the ones that, from no where, or constantly have to talk as if the women suck I think are trying to make up for their own shortcomings and lack of confidence. Grow up and get some Extensa and how about I just play you some instead of Reed Pierce.

What the heck is Extensa? Searching the web I came up with a definition of "backward deviation of the hand"... How are you using the word?

Certainly Monica you have free will to start your own thread and invite all comers to play you some. I will be on the lookout for this thread. I hope you get what you wish for. Reid, on the other hand, I don't think will have any women come & step up to the plate - no matter how old & past his prime he is.

Nice to see you post Monica. This is more a knock of some of the posters here than the women players. There was a post before where a large number of posters came out of the woodwork and it became a bit of an ego war. As this usually is, it was just woofing and no game will ever be made.

I believe most people here respect the talents of you ladies. I for one really enjoy your play and pace. I took quite a bit of action on you in the Women's All-Around. Some of us here have quite a good grasp on caliber of play, and others just don't get it. I would not knock the ladies game, you all play very well... much better than myself, but the asinine posts by some people here shows they really don't understand the difference.

Extensa is a new drug on the market. I might be spelling it wrong. It was a joke. But to be serious I don't understand why we always have to discuss the difference with the men and women. Who cares, really? The 7 is nothing and no girl would win with it. Let us not forget Johny gave SVB the 7 out in DCC in '07. Every great male player out there knows that I bow to their ability and love to learn and watch them in action but do I seriously have to continuously verbalize that I couldn't win with the 7 ball just so a few individuals can feel that they are more important in their life. I never see the greatest players constantly having to have this converstion probably b/c they are comfortable within their ability.

You honestly don't have to have it at all. No one here disagrees that you are a great player, and no one here (I don't think) would accost you directly with the challenge. Good luck this year and if you are in AL sometime, I can get you some easy action.

Johnny Archer gave SVB the 7 out at the 2007 DCC??

anyone have the details on this? race? ahead? how much $$$?

Johny didn't play as well as he should have and still broke even. Today would be a different story but SVB still played lights out in 07. We all know how he is playing today. He has a lot of support and has been able and willing to put himself against the best for a while now.Now look at him. It would be a more interesting discussion to evaluate what would happen to the women's game if they played all the men's pro events and gambled with them continuously. I do as much as I can but financialy it is too difficult to do that. We would also need 50 years to catch up to them. Remeber it was not very exceptable for women to even be in the pool room or play sports for that matter.

That line in red above really caught my eye... Wow...

I'd love to know why you think that.

Monica, I remember watching you play back when you were really getting into pool. I always thought you had a great stroke and eye for the game. Then once you began traveling with Helena and got some seasoning you progressed into one of the top 7 women in the world (IMO) and its all from hard work and dedication. Remember the old tournies at Jackal's in Lilburn?
