I do as much as I can but financialy it is too difficult to do that. We would also need 50 years to catch up to them. Remeber it was not very exceptable for women to even be in the pool room or play sports for that matter.
I saw the match, it was an after hours match on the TV table. As I remember it they were playing by the game and they didn't play long because Johnny had a early match the next day.uwate said:Johnny Archer gave SVB the 7 out at the 2007 DCC??

As of right now the chances I would make money or break even just isn't enough. I could do it if I lived with my mom and no bills. I play in many around in my area, though. ESP Shannon's tournaments. Men have been playing at top levels with all the knowledge so much longer that it would take a while for women to really catch up and that is with them doing the road thing and going to most af the men tourn. My opinion. Over and out everybody, nice chattin but I have to go now. I have a hair appt. I really do.
Not trying to be disrespectful, but what has kept you from playing better, what advantage does say SVB have over you? What advantage does a man have over a woman as far as progressing in the pool world? If anything don't you have more opportunity, because you can play in woman's and open events? And to go one further you can slide into some amateur events as well! Or at least some of the WPBA players do! One of your buddies, who is ranked in the top 25 on the WPBA, plays regularly on the Kings Bay "amateur" tour!monica said:I do like action. Flex said:Actually, I don't blame women for the war; while Lincoln probably deserves his share.
LOL! Lincoln took office about 30 days before Fort Sumter was fired upon. MAN he sure stirred up a LOT of trouble in a month!! (-: And during his campaign he GUARANTEED the southern states that he would do NOTHING to end slavery in their states
As for Weaver being opposed to feminism, I think his take on much of the attacks on the South, which continue until today, were spot on. The feminist attacks against traditional Southern society continue to this day. And by the way, Weaver's doctoral dissertation which was accepted by the University of Chicago (no conservative bastion, to be sure) that I mentioned earlier was no mere opinion or propaganda piece. It was fully documented and researched.
How do you know that? Have you read all the documents cited to in his footnotes? And the U. of Chicago is not a conservative bastion among major universities?? Are you KIDDING? It is one of the most conservative schools in America!!
From the Stanford Review (ANOTHER conservative university.)
Before writing this piece, I had assumed that The Stanford Review isn?t much better or worse than most moderate and conservative campus papers.
The University of Chicago can lay claim to one resource of which none of the other schools profiled can boast?-a daily campus paper whose editorial pages are relatively right-leaning.
Regarding the role the Southern ladies played in the conflict, it was his contention, backed up by serious analysis, that Southern ladies in particular were very jealous of their rights, and their social status in society, and with the growing encroachment of "Yankee industrialism" coming from the North, many saw an end to the respect due them, and were strongly opposed to it.
THEY HAD NO RIGHTS!!! NONE!!! ZIP!!! NADA!!!! And were WAS no "encroachment of Yankee industrialism" into the south. There was GROWTH in northern industrialism IN THE NORTH which shifted the balance of power to the North.
So if you wish to indict Weaver, why not indict Southern ladies of that time as well?
Because they had nothing to do with the conflict which was ENTIRELY based on the attempt to perpetuate the southern agricultural economy which, in turn, required the utilization of slave labor. Almost all wars are fought on grounds of religion, money or territory (a subset of the money issue).
The Civil War had nothing to do with religion or land...which leaves economics. And southern women...to the extent they were permitted formal education at all...were trained in the liberal arts and were ACTIVELY dissuaded from even DISCUSSING economics!
It's unfortunate, in my view, that Weaver never became Roman Catholic...

The women are catching up faster than you think Ms. M. The top women of today could give the top women of 15 years ago the 7,8 & 9. Maybe more.
iba7467 said:These IPT events have been exhibitions with no monetary risk by the parties involved. You obviously don't understand gambling. Here, Mr. Pierce is making a very open challenge in hopes that one player will accept. Once this match is made, which is not likely, he will try to bet every $$$ he can. This will be done because the opportunity will not arise more than once. You see, it must be for alot of $$$ because it is a once and only opportunity (and probably not that).
watchez said:Certainly Monica you have free will to start your own thread and invite all comers to play you some. I will be on the lookout for this thread. I hope you get what you wish for. Reid, on the other hand, I don't think will have any women come & step up to the plate - no matter how old & past his prime he is.

monica said:I have never been too shy to put myself in pecking order with the best players in the world. The men play awesome but the ones that, from no where, or constantly have to talk as if the women suck I think are trying to make up for their own shortcomings and lack of confidence. Grow up and get some Extensa and how about I just play you some instead of Reed Pierce.

iba7467 said:You honestly don't have to have it at all. No one here disagrees that you are a great player, and no one here (I don't think) would accost you directly with the challenge. Good luck this year and if you are in AL sometime, I can get you some easy action.
Mr. Zero - really, your ability to dissect every word of every post is ridiculious. You have your comprehension, the rest of the world has theirs.av84fun said:First, Reid didn't challenge anyone. Hemi did. Second, Hemi didn't challenge "all comers"...he challenged women and only women.
How has he done gambling with Archer or Busta or Alex?
