Ok so here is my dilemma. I in the process of shopping for a new cue, and my question is should I give back to the game by giving a teammate a good deal on my old cue, or save it and start a collection because it's the cue I had when I started to shoot well? It's not a special cue at all its a McDermott Taos. I bought it last year, got a great deal on it here on AZB. I'd love to keep it because I dont need the extra money to buy the new cue, but on the other hand I have atleast 1 other guy on my team who needs his own cue. He shot with this cue all year and he really likes it. Im kind of torn, I want to sell him the cue and he has already told me that he would buy it from me if i wanted to sell it. I was thinking what I might do is sell it to him at a very good price and then just tell him if he ever quits shooting or upgrades that I'd like to buy it back. What do you think?

You just answered your own question. Follow your heart!

I recently won a Poison cue in a drawing. I played with it a bit, but prefer my regular cue. I gave the Poison to a friend who is struggling to make a financial comeback. The old credit card thing... Even bought him a case and a few accessories. He loves the cue.

I've learned that acts of kindness often come back to me many times over in the form of good vibes...or is it Karma?

If it has sentimental value, I wouldn't sell it. My parent brought my first cue which is an 18oz GW01 and it sits there in the case and I don't even touch it, but being my parents purchased it for me and being my 1st cue, I'd never sell it.

I let my good friend use it whenwe go play, but I learned that I actually care about that cue too much and I just brought him a different cue to use lol and gave it to him. Nothing fancy at all giving I don't have much greens but it is a good shooter.

I would play with the new cue for awhile before I did anything with the old one, you may end up not liking the new one. Good luck in your search.
I was going to sell a friend a Searing at a very good price(a few weeks ago) thank god he found another one.

Well, you said "I would love to keep it" but you also said "I want to sell it to him". You really need to decide what you want to do but it sounds like the cue has sentimental value to you and you would really like to keep it.

Tell your buddy you'll bring it to league and he can use it whenever he wants. And let him know if you ever decide to sell it he has first right of refusal.

Hey, if it would be his first decent cue then he will eventually move on to something else just like you did, but the stick has a special place in your heart. Hang on to it.

Bear in mind though that the above opinion is from a guy who has played with the same cue for 45 years. ;)

What is your reason for the "upgrade"? There are alot of stories of guys buying new cues and wishing they had the old one back, I've done this myself.

There really is no reason other than wanting one. I know its not the arrow its the indian. I just would like a new one is all. And the advice about keeping the old one for a while to see if I like the new one is great advice, I definantly think I will do that. And as far as the cue having sentimental value, maybe, I do have another one that I will never sell, I received it when my uncle was killed in a car accident and that one will be displayed someday when I figure out how to do it.

Be careful it could become addicting:D Nevermind, AZ could always use a few more cue collecting addicts. Welcome to the club:thumbup:

Who said I still don't want yours too? :D No really Jason I hope you hang onto that one and use it for your player..

you should get it in a few decades.lol

Kidding Mr. Searing. :p

I have never regretted keeping a cue, but I sure have regretted selling everyone of them.

I would keep it. There are a lot of us that want our first something back. Look at what peole are paying for old cars or other antiques because they had one years ago.

Many times I have found giving something to someone ends up not being appreciated and ends up getting thrashed or the person sells it as a source of easy money.

If you do sell it to him and there is an emotional attachment you will always be watching it and getting upset if he doesn't treat it the way you would like.

Twenty years from now you will want that cue back and will be looking for it because you still think of it as a great player. If you keep it you can use it to refresh your memory.
