I've seen too many crazy, unexpected things while playing pool. They ALL get to shoot the money ball.

IMO, If you expect it, you may be opening the door for someone to get into your head. Better to never expect it, 'cause there are some people...

It's all a game within a game, and a million ways to handle it.

I say to never expect it. I'll concede it more to those that "deserve it" because they are good sports, and toy with the small minded jerks.

Me too. I played big guns and watched them rattle a straight in duck.

usually no

None of your answers really fit so I'll type a bit. I dislike being given the money ball over and over because mentally you start considering the game over a ball too soon and your body starts dumping chemicals and rewarding you for making the second to last ball. That is why it can be a strong shark move to give someone the easy outs over and over and then make them shoot some. Too, changing up what you have been doing puts them mentally a little out of sync.

Looking at the issue from the side of the person giving the game ball over and over, you are ceding a game that isn't lost yet. Maybe the odds are one in a hundred, maybe one in a thousand but how many games do many of us play a year? The mental thing comes into play from this side too. We start seeing the run out a ball earlier and we mentally concede that it is over when we see an easy run out. When the run out fails we have some difficulty shifting gears to focus back on this game that we thought was over. We see many times when a player muffs an easy run out and then the player getting back to the table misses an easy shot to hand it back to the first player. Usually caused by being in the wrong mental state.

For these reasons and a few more, I prefer playing the game until the last ball falls, doesn't matter if I am shooting or sitting in the chair. Completing the game is why it is also a poor practice technique to concede yourself the game ball if it is an easy shot. You need to train your body to stay focused until the last ball falls. Loss of focus is probably why that last easy ball is missed when it is.

Play it to the end I always say. If someone gives me the money ball I'll usually shoot it anyways. I might say something like oh I'll shoot it anyways, I need the practice.

I agree with Shootingarts giving the game ball is a shark move big time.

Giving the money ball

I hate it when someone wants you to shoot the money ball and then stands next to the table with their hand in the corner pocket waiting for the ball to go in so they can start empting the pockets.

I hate that too. If they are just standing right there waiting, I'll stand up and ask if there are giving me the game.
If they say no, then i will tell them to back the f off so i can shoot.

If i am playing for money i always make them shoot it till the end. But if they give me the 9 a couple times, i will usually give it to them if they are cool. Depending on the circumstances, the other persons seems like they appreciate it a little and smile and say thanks.

When I play good, I picture every ball as the game ball, helps focus. It helps me take time for potting/shape during easy shots. I play way better. I also play the last ball like I have another to go. I like to play shape for a spot on table. For example, sometimes I try to get the CB back to my break area.

just depends, ball in hand I usually concede. But if the money ball in a a bad spot (the nipples of the side pocket) then they shoot it. Sometimes conceding is a shark move, sometimes not conceding is a shark move. It all depends.

No gimmies

If I'm practicing I will if it's a gimmie or I don't care, but in league play or a tournament I make them shoot it.
I've won games even this week that my opponents missed shots that would have been a gimmie by anyone's standards.
A few months ago I miscued on the ball before a tournament winning 8-ball, and took second place because of it.
Stuff happens.

i dont care who it is i make them shoot it!!!!!!! anything could happen to make them miss.
