I have never once in my life played using a shooting glove.

I was in a local tourney at a bar earlier this week where the ac was broken down and it was a really hot and humid night. One of the regulars in attendance knew a little something about these things and so he went into the hvac area and came out with a 36 x 36 air filter that could have passed for "Cousin It". Looked like they never ever changed the filter. As a result, the condenser had frozen solid.

I wasn't shooting my best that night to begin with, now add a sticky shaft/sweaty hand that no amount of talc could cure. Doomed to fail. If I had a glove in my case I woulda used it for sure.

The simple question: Is there a glove (or maybe a couple) that are considered the best and what about the finger slides I occasionally see advertised? Are they the hot ticket?

Keeping in mind that I made it this many years without using one, perhaps it really isn't so important to have the latest & greatest. An emergency one of medium quality likely would be just fine.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. :)

Thanks!

Best,

If you want to wear a glove and still look tough get a leather golf glove and cut the fingers off. Anything else looks kinda retard. JMHO

Brian,

I too only put something on my hand in the worst conditions. I tried a glove and I tried the finger slides. The glove I tried was very annoying and I really disliked the less secure contact of my finger tips with the table. The finger slides I could literally forget were on my hand when I wasn't shooting. For emergency back-up I recommend finger slides over gloves if for no other reason it is less of a change. Nancy is a nice lady to deal with and will modify her slides to make you happy if she needs to. Try that with one of the glove companies!

Naah, the thing to do to look tough is to wear the weight lifters nose picker gloves . . . . on both hands!

I kinda feel a little strange wearing a glove too, but living here
in the swamps of DC, this time of year it's necessary very often.

I believe mine is a "St. Charles" or something similar (it's too hot for me to get up off the couch and check right now, but I'll do it before I go to bed). I've used it occasionally and it is the best quality of the few I've tried.

It feels so nice and smooth!!!

Aren't leather golf gloves meant to INCREASE friction?

I found out recently I'm alergic to chalk for some reason?....after playing for my whole life!......35 years.

I started wearing a golf glove on my cue hand and a regular bridge hand pool glove. I actually like it more now that I'm used to it. The cue always feels the same no matter the conditions.

Thanks, guys for the suggestions. I have emailed Nancy to see about getting some finger slides.

Hopefully, I'll never have to use them. :D
