Grady's book is Bet High and Kiss Low.

good book

you will aslo enjoy

Roadplayer - Danny Diliberto
There's one about Danny Basavich which is alo a fun read.

hustlers beats and others by ned polsky isn't a bad read. the hustler and the champ by r.a. dyer about the challange match between mosconi and fats is pretty good, gives a lot of backgraound on both player's lives. also by dyer is hustler days, which i think someone already mentioned. and the last one i can think of off the top of my head that i don't think was mentioned is mcgoorty by robert byrne.

"The GosPool" and "Banking with the Beard" by Freddy Bentivegna. Here's a
link to his website.....http://www.bankingwiththebeard.com/

Grady's "Bet High & Kiss Low" is a great book, minus the "horse" reference on page 2! :D

"Willie's Game" by Stanley Cohen is superb. R.A. Dyer's "Hustler Days" and "The Hustler & The Champion" are also A+.

Jay Helfert's "Pool Wars" is must reading. Him, Grady & Fred need to pen sequals!

I forgot to mention McGoorty, by Robert Byrne. Also, Great Pool Stories by Robert Byrne, The Lions and the Lambs by Thomas Fensch, and The Bank Shot and Other Great Robberies-the story of Minnesota Fats with an introduction by R A Dyer.

I liked this one:
The Hustler & The Champ: Willie Mosconi, Minnesota Fats, and the Rivalry that Defined Pool by R. A. Dyer

One of the best books I ever read for pool was" The Inner Game of Tennis"
If you replace the word tennis with pool you will find this book invaluable . I can't remember the authors name but it's worth checking out.

You should read "choke" by chuck palahniuk. it's laugh out loud funny

Buddy halls Rags to Rifelman is my favorite. It Can be hard to find and sometimes expensive but its awesome.

Second would be Cornbreads Red pools greatest money player.

I think I read both of those in one sitting. I couldnt put them down.

That's Running the Table by L. Jon Wertheim. It's a fun read. I also second Playing off the Rail and Jay Helfert's Pool Wars. If you want to read short stories or excerpts of pool in literature, pick up Robert Byrne's Byrne's Book of Great Pool Stories.

Hey Robde, glad you're amongst us.
I'm re-reading 'Hustler Days' at the moment, and am at the place where Fats goes to Norfolk, and gets his clock cleaned by a young Lassiter.
