I have heard enough bad things about him so now i wanna hear some good things about the one and only "The Pearl"

I will start things off...When i was just venturing out as somewhat of a poolplayer...he would always take time-out to talk with me...

Have told this before on here and don't feel like going into detail or searching for it. But when I was about 16 I met Earl at a convention in Atlanta and hung out with him for 3 days straight. He was there with cutech and he even offered to take me out to eat and to the pool room at night, but my mom wouldn't let me. He was a class act then, and really encouraged me and helped my game.
 
The thing that will always stand out for me was just how many matches Earl won by blowout , even against the most elite nineballers. Nobody scored more 11-2 and 11-3 victories over top pros than Earl. When he was right, he was near unbeatable.
 
I attended the 2000 U.S. open and watched every one of Earl's matches, he was really in stroke the entire tournament and the most games any player won against him was 6. He blew everyone away that he played and won the event easily. I've never seen a player win a major as effortlessly as earl did that one.
 
Earl is definitely in my top ten of players I would like to meet. In or out of the pool room I bet he is a riot to be around.
 
Before I really decided to try to learn this sport, I knew only one pro pool players name.

The name Earl Strickland will always be synonymous with pool. Always.
 
In addition to pool, Earl plays a heck of a good game of golf! I spent 5 days with Earl (in MT & ID), during the Camel Pro Exhibition Tour, many years ago...loved every minute of it! :thumbup:

Earl is one of the greatest players ever! Could you imagine if he practiced or did ever did drills?
 
In his prime playing 9-ball I would suspect that he gave every other top pro a sense of dread when they had to match up with him. I have an Accu-Stats tape from long ago where Mizerak beats him in a 9-ball set but if you listen to Mizerak's commentary he says he is very intimidated playing Earl. When you are so good that you scare Steve Mizerak and he admits it that's really saying something.
 
There are only two players I always make time to watch when their matches are televised- Efren and Earl.:thumbup:
 
if i had to choose one player to shoot a shot and my life depended on it, it would without a doubt be earl in his prime. no fear just center pocket.
 
BAR NONE! Earl is a great player (One of the top 9 ball players of all time). He is not only a great teacher but is truly passionate about this game!!! I value my friendship with him and he is a AMBASSADOR to the world of pocket billiards! GO EARL!
 
One of the most naturally gifted players ever. Def the best tourney 9-baller ever.

Regardless of who's playing, if Earl's playing.... I wanna make sure I'm sitting within "cornerman" ear-range. He's without a doubt the most entertaining player to watch and listen to... at least on-par with Keith.

Need we say more?? 9ball is his game.

Pick a guy to shoot a shot better than him. Pick someone who can run the patterns as quickly. There is none better than the pearl.

If someone could get him to learn the nuances of the break Earl would be unstoppable but i guess even Achilles had a heal.

Thanks for all of these great things about Earl... Maybe he will read this and spark a little fire back into his life....
I just want him to know that he is more than a great player to all of us, but a fantastic man.

The Sands Regency Open 21 1995 - when Earl defeated by a tremendous kick shot by Reyes raised Reyes hand and said "I'd rather have it end like that than win the tournament" .
 
style and stroke

...always liked the style and stroke of his pool game......born to play the game.....stroke and technique right out of a textbook.....great talent and phenomenal ability.....As mentioned before, in his prime, I never saw anyone who could run 5, 6, 7 racks and out on so many top level pros ...... I have quite a few of those sets captured on AccuStats tapes.....
