Got a free lesson today

I was at Champions Billiards today practicing with a friend for thr Action Tour Tournament tomorrow in Sterling VA. Mike Sigel and I were chatting while we played. He saw something we were both doing wrong. So what does Mike do...he spends over a half hour showing us when to use running English and when to use center high.

Mike gets some negative press but he really is a good guy!

He is so competitive that he just gets wound up.

I really like Mike and he wasn't called the 'greatest living player' for no reason - very, very, very knowledgeable.

Sounds like a lesson I wish I could have received about 20yrs ago.

Wedge what is the best billiard club in that DC area, mostly south or west of DC? I tried to goggle that champions in sterling but didn't find it.

Champions is in Frederick, Maryland. Mike is the house pro there. The best pool room in my opinion is Big Daddy's in Glen Burnie, MD. VIP's in Catonsville, MD and the Top Hat Club in Parkville, Md are also very good.

Sorry, but these are mostly North of DC, Champions is West.

You might check out First Break in Sterling, VA. They have some nice 9 ft Diamond Pro-Ams. I've played at Champions in Frederick, MD but would rate the tables better at First Break. They have a good Thursday tourney as well.

Yep, the tournament is at First Break...never been there...looking forward to it. I know Mike Davis is playing as well as other strong local MD and VA players. Ozzie Reynolds runs a first class tournament...The Action Tour!
