I really like this setup for it's versatility and ease to setup for whatever ... Solid , smooth , and precise ... The nutz is you can move the headstock up and down the rail ... With the extra heavy duty quill tailstock I can set up on either side of the headstock. A few more tweaks and life is good ... Thanx A BUNCH Chris ... A quality product with the confidence of your support behind it !!! That's worth the price of admission anywhere !!! DSC01685.jpg

?

Is this a stripped down ver. of the Deluxe? I have noticed that there is no taper bar or cabinate around the Deluxe. I would guess that the head stock will move up and down the dove tail alot easier and farther. Nice setup by the way.

Jim.

Yes this is a stripped version I ordered ... My buddy , WilleeCue , got one and I tried it and liked it ... I will use this for some work and also transport it for tourneys ... I tell you this is the nutz for what it is ... I wouldn't steer anywhere else if you want a setup like this ...;)

I have that same table. $99 scratch & dent special at Harbor Freight. I like it a lot. Mine has green felt lining the drawers. Its a very heavy table...I have a small bandsaw sitting on one corner & its very stable. I like the big shelf on the bottom for storage of the long phenolic tubes & such.
Sorry for the hi-jack....great table!

Wow, so you can drill from both sides? you can drill / tap for the pin and weight bolt at the same time? nice score, Eric

Eric, that is a nice looking set up, I also see that you have a Porper B in the back ground, will it be for sale in the near future.

Thanks

I guess you could if you had a matching left-hand drill bit installed - but based on the position of the handle on the drilling tailstock, it's supposed to be facing the other direction. I'm sure he simply has it there for display/our viewing pleasure:)

If you have the new tailstock, the old quill style can come in very handy
for operations left of the headstock instead of a steady rest.

And you've never heard of a left handed drill bit? Its the only way you can use a left handed drill. Otherwise you'd be undrilling a hole.

I just got my upgraded tailstock last week, and now the old type is going to be offset for cutting points, and never going back to straight! No readjusting everytime.
Dave <====wondering if you undrill a hole, does it refill itself with sawdust??

Easy if you have left hand tools and really long arms. you will get it done in 1/2 the time.

I like the setup. Does it have a steel dovetail bed?
I also like the bench you have it set on.

Dave, its the same as listening to a country and western song backwards.
Your old lady doesn't leave you, your dog doesn't die and your pickup truck doesn't break down.

My Porper B isn't the normal run , I have made many mods and NO it won't be for sale unless a fat woman cuts my arms off !!! I am impressed by the HighTower lathe , for what it is and how it performs ... Also Chris is pretty cool !!!
