Well I played a challenge match, a King of AZ challenge match with another forum member back2good1. In our state we have ratings from 4 to 10-2, Frost is the only 10-2 and Mitch Ellerman is the only 10-1 I believe. Me and back2good1 are both 8's making us B players.

We each pick a game, I chose one pocket which I won 4-2 and he chose bar table 8 ball and he wins 8-6. The decider is me and him write 2 games on a piece of paper and put it a pitcher and had the girl working in the poolroom pick a game out of it, he wrote 9 and 10 ball and I wrote 14.1 and banks, I wanted golf not 14.1 but he said it was not in the BCA rule book.

We end up playing 14.1 which neither of us really play. I am down 25 points at one time going to 100 which is a big margin playing someone who is equal and possibly a bit better. I get back in the game down a few balls but find myself trailing mainly because I was missing easy balls in open racks.

The score is 98-79 in his favor and I get to the table and run 21 and out! Even though the match was over I kept running balls and ended up with a run of 35 but got too straight on my break shot and the run ended, wished I got better on the break ball so I could have run 40 or 50.

My previous was 31 so I am glad to have played well and won, I cannot imagine how he felt sitting there thinking he had it all wrapped up waiting for me to miss but I did not.

Nice win

Way to go Lenny, that is a nice win & a good run to get out when your opponent only needs a couple of balls. That is good playing under pressure & will help your game in the future.

Good run, play some more 14-1. I imagine it would help all of your games. I know it has helped me understand a few things.

Good Shootin Lenny, Keep on playin 14.1 to keep the game alive. As it will only help your all around ability, and teach you better control !

Nothing makes you play better than some steady pressure. Felt good, huh?

BTW, on which game are your state rankings based? 9B, 8B, 10B, 1P, 14.1?

Nice Run FastLenny and good story too.
A little pressure does help to focus ones attention to details.
Glad I was not the one sitting in the chair at 98 to see your run though....

14.1 is the game!

The last run, no matter how high it is- is always the most important run^^
and if YOU did the last run, you did well :-)

It felt great!, thanks everyone for the kind words. The state ratings are based on 9 ball although I do not feel I play as strong as my rating might be in that game but I do have my moments and can and have ran multiple racks of 9 ball.

My best game is one pocket and I enjoy that game very much, reading the stack is important in most games. Funny thing is I have trouble practicing and running over 30 balls, it always happens in a game when I run more then 2 racks.
