this wood is my favorite:
followed by cocobolo and that snakewood into ebony combination above. also coco/ebony with no veneers is hot too
bacote is definitely an ugly wood, but it seems like a good kind of ugly... it has character I guess

Recut points would be just up your alley. The recuts can be Cocobolo, Ebony, Maple, Purple Heart, Holly, Chektekok, etc. --- just about any of the hardwoods. "Natural state" with no stain or dye.

Amboyna burl. It has the most beauitfully vivid and wild grain of any wood I have ever seen. Purpleheart is pretty as well.ratcues said:
Bloodwood is pretty drab looking. Satinwood is a very 70's yellow. I get the same 70's feel from the green in Olivewood. Pink Ivory in too large a dose can be rather disgusting. (I think I may just hate most of these because buddha loves 'em so much!ratcues said:

My tight b'eye and curly maple can give it the 6-out in tone.
Desi mentioned Koa. Koa definitely needs to be cored unless it's a really hard one. I have sick figured striped Koa. Very light and soft.

Close seconds would be birdseye maple, tulipwood and aboyna burl. Bocote has "character" and hits great.
Ebony is pretty but it's overused fine with the proper colored accents --- it's sure sells.
No thanks to pink ivory and bloodwood unless used as an accent << guess that's what makes the world go round.
