Governing Body/Who;s the man ?

And quite a few of them in pool organizations that change rules willy-nilly to advantage a minute few. All others are left to hang out and dry, while the golden boys aka sponsored players are given benefits and special treatment.

At least Kevin Trueau had players meetings and communicated with the players at every single event. Deno Andrews did everything he could to keep players apprised of what was happening.

They sure don't do that in today's pool organizations. Kevin Trudeau was a godsend to pool. He tried to make something good happen. So what if he wanted to profit from it?! So what if he had problems with the FCC in previous business endeavors? So what if he spent time in jail? I could elaborate on this little factoid right here, but I don't want to put somebody else down to prove a point. Should he have done it for free? Everybody wants to bash Kevin Trudeau and bring up B.S. that has nothing, not one iota to do with the MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars he invested into pool.

What has the WPA and the BCA done lately for American professional players, aside from the industry members' sponsored golden boys?!

Although I am a great admirer of your tenacity, I think that you should take off the blinkers and look at the bigger picture.

For sure, there have been injustices in the past but that is just part of life so you must deal with it and move on.

I cannot support your view that the US is getting a Raw Deal from anybody. An attitude that requires everything to be made easy for American players is wrong.

Obviously Europe and Asia can both be self sufficient as can the USA but sooner or later top players would want to compete on an intercontinental basis. So in the long term any player organisation should be global on it's mandate.

Personally, I have changed my views on the capacity of players to organise themselves efficiently. The ABP cannot be the future of the game. There is too much self interest and scope for confrontation in their setup.

Probably the best model to follow would be the PBTA structure with a Commissioner and a board of genuine movers and shakers with global connections.

There are not too many candidates that jump out at you. Mark Griffin is palying his moves carefully, knowing that the groundswell will make it a 'fait accompli' for him. But it would require non selfish co-operation with someone like Mr Tu in Asia and Barry Hearn in Europe if it is to sustain long term viability.

I used to look at the bigger picture a lot, Doug, but the people pulling the strings behind the closed curtain do not play fair sometimes, IMO. I think there should be a level playing field and that all players are treated equal.

Nowhere at any time have I suggested things should be "made easy" for Americans, and if that is how you interpret my opinion, then it is not the way I feel at all. :(

The BCA and WPA have one tire in the sand as far as advancing pool. I don't see any improvement. In fact, I see the BCA as moving backwards.

And for the record, Doug, I have moved on, in case you haven't noticed. I'm not on the road anymore attending two, three, and four tournaments every month. I am not dealing with the pool political animals that rape pool players, the underlings in the scheme of things, to benefit themselves.

I respect your opinion, Doug, but I wish you would respect mine. After you've been punched in the face a few times, you learn how to duck and not allow yourself to get punched again. Pool has beaten me up. I don't have quite the same enthusiasm as today's globe trotters who get their expenses paid by industry sponsors and travel the world on somebody else's dime.

As far as the players organizing, the IPT was the perfect model. It should not be by the players themselves, and that, I think we are in agreement on.

And I compliment your complementary post to the thread. I am glad to see that you can at least understand exactly what time of day it is as it pertains to pool culture. Some refuse to acknowledge what Kevin Trudeau did was a step in the right direction. The platform was flawed from its conception.

I sure as hell didn't see any those BCA Hall of Famers complaining after they pocked $30,000 for just showing up in Orlando in December 2005. They also got byes in the tournament.

What has the BCA done for those Hall of Famers?

I always thought that Kevin had good intentions and wanted to help the pool and pool players. It appeared that he was misguided and his plans to promote the game were unrealistic ( more on the side of the grandiose plans).I don`t have any clue as to the people who bum steered him.
