I disagree, "Weenie Beanie" analyzed the table and the various shot choices very well....
And as for criticizing players shot choices, Diliberto and Buddy do that a lot....but they each give me a different reaction....when Danny criticizes, it sounds a bit too arrogant and dismissive and it bugs me, but when Buddy does it, it makes me laugh - because when Buddy does it, he does it in a funny way....
When the player is about to shoot a shot he doesn't agree with, Buddy goes into his high-pitched, cartoonishly dramatic, incredulous-inflected, southern accented voice and says "What's he doin'?", "What's he doin'?", and then high-pitch giggles, sometimes saying jokingly afterwards..."Is he in my bracket?"......cracks me up every time.

Ghosty, We have to come over here to find something to agree on ???
Anybody who doesn't like the "Beans" commentary is either NOT a one pocket player, nor a true lover of the game !
Bill was not only NEVER stand-offish, or acted like he knew it all. He made good, concise comments, as the game unfolded, and injected a good deal of humor into the flow, no matter who he was paired with. And he was often paired with some real lame-o's.
The best color commentator's IMHO, were... Beanie, Buddy, Billy I, Grady, and the Beard. (not in that exact order... but close to it.)
Who wants to hear boring technical details, pool players NEVER agree on the same shot in one pocket anyway. The banter and the stories are what makes it enjoyable...or not.
If you want cheap lesson's, buy a book, or a DVD on the subject, and study your brains out...
Would you enjoy Jay Leno reading the phone book ? There is an art to color commentary, and delivery. Very few have it in our little world.... Beany had it in spades.

PS Jasper, I also agree with your take on Danny D, and a few others Usually too caustic and humorless for my taste.
