Great article about Earl and Scooter

That article was GREAT. As someone who was there and witnessed what was written about, I can tell you that the author conveyed the facts as well as the atmosphere to a tee. I enjoyed reading that as much as I did watching it evolve. The Derby is a great entertaining event. There's something for everyone. Go see it when/or if you can

Well written? Absolutely. Entertaining? No doubt. I spent twenty minutes enthralled. But, It's the equivalent of good pornography.

$40k on a single game of bar box 9ball is a gang bang. Much of the pool scene is the equivalent of an aging failed actress that turned to porn years ago and is now agreeing to do gang bangs. Scooter goodman is Peter North.

Just read this Grantland on ESPN is a great look and slightly different take on Sporting Events. Bill Simmons who is behind Grantland on Espn is also involved in 30 on 30 ESPN shorts. 30 on 30 captures odd and forgotten stories and people in Sports. A 30 on 30 show might be a great boost for pool

A 30 for 30 short on pool would be cool!

Really?? Everybody thought this story was well written? Sure it talks about the characters and the money but it sure does lack depth! Especialy the end with dont F with scooter or some crap. Didnt even make it half way before clicking the back button. Not trying to be a ***** but it just lacks energy for me. Could have been written better is all..

I wonder if this is the writer who was working with The Freddy the beard?

No, he is not, but I would like to contact him as he is from Hot Springs, AR. Hot Springs is a second home for me for the last 50 years. It is amazing that I dont know him since he is apparently a pool bug. I would like to find a way to contact him as he now in Brooklyn and I am going to be in New York April 8th -12th.

Thanks Jammy.

I dont know him but he should know me. I hung out with all the magoo's in Hot springs, Sammy Eubank, etc., and they only had one poolroom in town.

Plus I spent much time at Oaklawn Park Race Track.

Funny scooter story from Whitey Walker just posted on FB:

If you've ever heard about Scooter, seen him in action or after you read this article... Here's a good Scooter story for ya. Lutman and I were playing a partners set in Derby. Scooter pulls me aside and gives me $1000 to bet on us, but told me not to tell the guy we were playing because they are friends. We won, found out later Scooter borrowed the money from him to bet against him!! Classic! Almost impossible not to like Scooter though, he's one of a kind.

I really enjoyed the entire article. It was well written and most certainly a great read. I wanted to keep reading even after I made it to the end.

Thank you for posting this OP, Jerry
