First off TAR put out PPV. Picture, sound, everything ran like Swiss watch. The players were great and showed respect for one another on and off the table. Both played like the champions they are, running racks like it was a bar table. An 8 pack by Busti was the most ran, but each had some 6, 5, 4, and 3 packs. I don't want to give out who won or the score in case someone has to watch the loop. My title should make them not click on it any way. Thank you all at TAR and thanks the 2 players that made it even more interesting joking with each other back and forth, but still acted like the pros that they are. Looking forward to the one hole Saturday...can't believe I said that.:). Johnnyt

8? Is that all!?

We note that tar remains badass...consistently excellent offerings i both matchup and production.
Stay proud, jcin

Everything ran super smooth, great job on the stream for TAR.

One thing I think needs to be modified in the future is the length of the race in 8-ball to be at least 25. 8-ball is not a slow game, especially when you put a clock on it. There are way fewer extended safety battles when compared to 10-ball due to the nature of the game and the runouts are at the most 8 pool shots, often 7 or 6 depending on how the break went.

The match went 20-16 and ended at 9pm my time (with a 6pm start) and with a break that was at least 1/2 hour. So the whole race to 20 only took 2.5 hours of actual play.

I woulld like to see the length of 8-ball races extended in future TAR events to be at least 25. Given the 8-pack that Busta put out to start the match it looked like we were possibly going to see a 3 or so inning match...

What is your take on alternate break, maybe race to 9, best 2/3 sets. That could be interesting also. I think alternate break is the way to go in a game where both players can put a big package on each other.

I think alternate break is not a great idea at all, if you get behind its not possible to bring a package and get back in it. This is not bowling, this is pool mister! :p

If it's possible for one guy to get way ahead under alternate break, then it's possible for the other guy to catch up under alternate break.

Well, Alex thought it was to 25.

Thanks guys. That was the best 8 ball I have ever seen.

Second that. The best 8 ball match ever. Bustamante's break is bar none. I think Alex's casual behavior actually helps his opponents by putting them at ease

little po'd here cause i missed this one due to midwest championship here in sioux city this weekend. like to support TAR especially when they play 8ball.

Absolutely the best 8 ball I've ever seen. Busty's break is unreal and the shooting was just as good. Also not all of those outs were cosmos. If you've seen the other thread on here you know Alex ran out a layout where all the balls were clustered in one corner.

HOLY CRAP! They made 8 ball look WAY, WAY, WAY, too easy! That was some of the sickest 8 ball I've ever seen. I would have liked to see Alex uncork a bigger head ball break. That second ball was just too incosistant. I was pulling for Alex to knock out a huge come back, but it was awesome to sweat down to the end! Busty did a great job. Just a pleasure to watch both these two shoot the lights out!!!

Great play, Great production, just an AWESOME deal the whole way around!!!! The HD option worked AWESOME!!!

Kudos to all involved!!!!

Please keep up the good work TAR crew!!!

best,

Justin

The break was right around 20 minutes. Next week we will either bump the 8 Ball race to 25 or change it to make it take it after the break. Maybe do both. I'll be doing a poll to see what people think about what to do after the break.

make it take, old school style.
Alot more strategy.
That will perhaps give Efren a shot to fade SVBs break. Otherwise its not going to be close.

I'm open to trying anything within reason but wouldn't make it take it favor the bigger breaker? I could see a guy with a big break like Shane making more balls more often giving him the choice of groups to start with where the guy who only makes one or two balls on the break could be stuck more often than not with what he makes on the break.

I don't know the answer and we will probably do make it take it to try it but that is something that has me thinking. Off to start a thread....
