Guaranteed Improvement?

i read every now and then where people on here talk about if you do this, or do that, or practice this, or practice that, or follow this book, or follow that book, or watch this tape, or watch that tape, etc, etc, that you will automatically be guaranteed to get better.

my $.02 is that NOBODY can guarantee any improvement. the goal is to get better at the discipline of your choice, that is the bottom line. but there is nothing out there that can guarantee a player's improvement, just absolutely nothing.

someone might legitimately say something like "This has been known to improve peoples games", or "Players have improved by following this practice regimen", or "I feel these drills will help you get better", etc, etc.

but in no way, shape, or form can anyone absolutely guarantee anyone is going to get better. nobody knows that and nobody can guarantee that - period.

Have you ever heard the expression;
"YOU HAVE TO PAY YOUR DUES"

Sometimes it's frustrating DCP! You have to work thru it buddy.
Just try working on your problem areas. JMHO

...and if we follow Whitewolf's theory, where he claims that APA7 is an alias for Mike Howerton, then we just watched Mr. Wilson ban the owner of this website. :eek: lol ... you don't see that happen everyday, do you, Ray? lol

:rolleyes:

Purdman is right... if becoming great at pool was easy, everybody would shoot like Efren or Corey or Thorsten. The truth is, these guys have put in the time and the effort to achieve what they have. I had a chance to talk to Corey briefly on Saturday, and its amazing at how "simple" he keeps everything. Buddy Hall is the same exact way. I guess that should tell you something, DCP.

well, i guess i will end my silence on this one. i've sat back for over a week now and watched all the trashing and bashing that goes back and forth on this forum. and for over a week it didnt involve me. just thought i would point this out.

anyway, Blackjack, does this mean we are back on speaking terms again? hope so, because i value your opinion. and if you still have me on ignore, i guess you wont see this so it wont make any difference.

as far as being simple, the one thing i tell myself all the time is the famous Buddy Hall quote "Dont play position when you already have it!" but then again, simple to Buddy is probably somewhat difficult to others. just like Tiger Woods makes the game of golf look simple.
