While all the Szamboti cues I have had the honor to hit with have been a little too thick and heavy for my playing taste, I can say without equivocation that I have never seen a Szamboti cue (Barry and Gus) that I did not think was a timeless classic. Thanks for sharing these beauties guys.

I believe there are a couple of Szamboti box cues floating around the gallery that belong in this thread.

Here are Eric's Szamboti Box cues, this thread would not be complete without these cues. I took these from the Box cue thread that was up here a few weeks ago. Now I am going to hunt down that thread with John Mars table full of Szamboti's.

Thanks Don for moving that pic to this thread. Were gonna add more pics to this thread in a couple days.

I dont know how many Szams I own, I never counted. Its not a contest anyways. John Mars has a fantastic collection of Gus's i'm real happy for him, My collection of Barrys is stronger than the Gus's I have, it just worked out that way. Most of my Gus's are player cues except my 6pt and 8pt. I passed on one Gus that Ken had-I think he might regret selling it, it wasnt a huge monster but it wasnt a player. This was about a year and a half ago. I'm very satified with my Gus collection and I have just a couple more Barrys I want then I will be done collecting them. I do need a Gus Box cue, I forgot about that. Its hard to find Gus's or Barrys sometimes the cues find me, and when they do at a fair price I make a move, I have seen a few times where the owners priced themselfs out of a deal. It really takes a long time to put together a collection. Mark Griffen had one hell of a Gus collection a few years back that he sold off, man he had the monsters in that collection, WOW were tehy big, I wish I would have known when he sold them. I think Lucky got a few of them, perhaps most of them.

My take on collecting isnt about how many, its more about the actual cues themselfs, a good representation of Gus's and barry's work is what my goal has been from day one, not about how many I can buy. Like that Gus I mention a minute ago that Ken had it was below a MONSTER but way above a 4 veneer player, it was damn near new, it would have fit into my collection nicely, I have a 6pt about the rarest gus and a 8pt and the cool thing is they kinda match, they arnt loaded up-which I really like, basic 6,8 pt gus's which might be harder to find than loaded up ones. I just know I love them. then I have the Rosewood/rosewood GSB my all time favorite cue. I could have bought GSB #1 for $6500 back in about 90 or 91, I played with it for 45 minutes using tan chalk. I passed on it, John Mars ownes it now-thats a cool thing, I never would have thought tht 20 years ago.

Its things like this that are what I like about cue collecting, and the internet has made cue collecting even more fun, I'm a player first and cue collector second, I havent met a cue I didnt like. And I got a email form Laurie yesterday, I have a crispy brand new SW waiting for me in Vegas-think I aint happy??? I will post pics of it soon as I get to Vegas, its a sexy cue.

happy new year,

Eric:smile:

I inherited this cue from my uncle who was an open speed player. He had just beaten Kid Delicious in the Tuesday night Rockaway NJ tourney and passed away two days later while on an open road trucking call. It took me a long time to want to play with this cue and when I took it out I was chosen to do a break and run for 2500.00.

I succeeded with this very cue. I also have the Fellini that was purchased from Gus with the cue.

This is a beautiful cue... its been doing just what it was intended to do: be played with. My condolences and prayers for your uncle.

Here's mine

I asked Barry to make something that wasn't to fancy to play with yet still garner interest. I think he nailed it.

Here's a couple i acquired a few months ago. The Gus looks just like a couple of the others except mine has a leather wrap.

I've owned a few Szamboti cues in my time but this cue is the one that means the most to me. This is the cue my son will get if he decides to play pool. Happy New Year everyone.

Unfortunately things worked out real bad for me traffic-wise and am stuck in the countryside away from home where my laptop and picture DVDs are. I will make it back home tomorrow early afternoon which is early morning in the US. I would like to kindly ask for your patience till then,
Best wishes,
David
