We have a number of very knowledgable posters on this site. Please guess who made this cue, and when approximately it was made. The following information may help with this task.

1. The cue is 57.5 inches long and it weighs 19.5 oz
2. The cue has a Leather wrap which is original
3. The cue has two shafts with Ebony spliced fronts and Ivory Ferrules
4. The cues forearm and butt are Birdseye Maple with a variety of
inlayed woods in the shape of chess peices.
5. All White on this cue is Ivory, inlays, Butt Cap, Joint!!

Here are the photo's

Man you guy's are no fun!!!!:D That was too easy, the cue was certainly made by Paul Heubler. The cue was made in 1977, and it is 1 of 5, I am in the process of doing a refinish on it so I thought I would share the photo's. I have known Paul since the 1973, in fact I grew up in Mossuri, and I purchased my first cue from Paul. In 2003, I contacted him about having a third shaft made for this cue for the owner. At that time Paul estimated the replacement shaft would cost around $500 to duplicate due to the ring work and the Ebony splice.

Anyone care to guess what this cue would be worth today as is?

Did Paul copy Meucci on the butt sleeve?or did he design it back then for Meucci?

Well it is very hard to say for certain, however, I can tell you this. Paul and Bob Meucci worked together in the late 1960's at a company called National cue. During that time frame they apparently collaborated on designs and construction. Cues from that company can be found with the Nylon shaft insert that became signature Heubler, and the Brass 5 1/6-18pin they both used.

Who initially came up with that design who knows, but I know that Huebler was a avid chess player, and either way the Meucci is not even close to the quality of the Huebler, I mean plastic verse Ivory and real exotic wood inlays.

nice chess....

2K is about the price on the market.

I just 2 ivory chess cues this past year - 1 for 1100 dollars and 1 for 1700 dollars (unchalked) - chalkers just sold one for 1800 list price

this one is unique - thanks for sharing.

I cannot imagine anyone wanting spliced shafts like that. If someone could sell this cue for 2000 in this market they should probably sell it.

Take Care

Easy, his ad reads, " Play with one or get beat by one."
PH of course.
I wished I bought his US Open tribute cue.

Please post some photo's of your cues or any other Chessman cues, I would doubt they are like this cue. I bet they do not have the ring work, and if they were made in the 80's or 90's they did not have hand cut inlays like this cue. In addition they did not have the special shafts that were made foir this cue. Paul personally told me there were none made after the late 1970's.

Thanks for everyones opinion, if anyone can show me photo's of another one of these I would like to see it. In addition if the same person has one like this cue for sale I will pay $2500 all day long, but it has to be just like this model with two shafts Ebony spliced no smaller them 12.80 mm.

Oh and by the way this cue hits very very good, it is a little farword heavy but not too bad, however man it is solid.

Have a great day!!!!!

The US Open tribute Cue was also a great cue, I have another customer locally who has one, and he also has a Palmer M Huebler tribute cue.

Oh and by the way, now I know were Varney got his classic sales pitch (" Play with one or get beat by one.")

I am going to call Paul and tell him about this, I bet he will laugh and say a few choice words!!

Jim the gentleman you are talking about is the same Gentleman who owns this cue. Most people here do not realize that this not the standard chessman cue that Huebler Built.

Thanks Jim!!!!

You are absolutly right , this is no ordinary Hubler . I was impressed the 1st time I saw it Thanks Jim

Enjoy!!!

Love them shafts, how do they hit? Better or worse than one of them pie cut shafts (laminated)?

Nice cue, but he should have alternated black (ebony?) and ivory for the the chess pieces. Unique cue, bet Efren R. would like it or one like it.

This has the sweetest hit of any cue I have ever played with. The sound of the hit, and the feel are very unique to this cue. I would love to own it, or even one like it. But the fact that only 3 were made like it kinda limits my chances.

Have a great day!!!!!!!
