You can tell a lot about a player by their hands. Are they right-handed or left-handed? Do they chalk with their right hand or with their left hand?

Can you guess who these hands belong to?

Picture B - Rodney Morris

Might have cheated or you out thought me :)

Thanks for the T-shirt again!

I was wrong on both counts. I thought most players used their back hand to chalk and in that way minimize the amount of chalk they get on the shaft. Fun Stuff Samm!!! Your Derby City photo's on facebook were classic! It's those dam hot tv lights that make a guy sleepy. :groucho:

hands on

Player A, SVB.

I think player B is Alex. Looks like his hands are only about 2' from the ground.

I would look at the palms. There would be a tint of color on the palm of the bridge hand.

Edit: I see the answer is already explained on The Tip Jar - Chalk on the Hypothenar area.

I always have more chalk on my bridge hand, left hand as I am right handed. The hand that I chalk with is my back hand but that does not get it dirty.

Chalk from the table and tip leave my bridge hand dirty too..

Jimmy-boy,
I'm amazed that you are not aware of Sailor's views on the subject. I was told by Mark Wilson that Sailor once said about right handed players, "I DETEST any player that uses his right hand to chalk." Mark was so mystified by the comment that he didn't ask why; but he immediately changed to chalking with his left hand. A very eccentric individual.

If you post a picture of their faces I might be able to help with identification. Kind of hard to tell from just their hands, but I'm guessing Player A is right handed, player B is left handed.

It's an optical illusion. Both pics are of the same person. And that person is: Jeanette Lee!!

Now, where's my prize

That's hilarious. I did have a poll on my site about which hand you shoot with & which hand you use to chalk with. Most people said they also use their stroke hand.

I personally am right-handed but prefer to chalk right-handed, with my cue in my left hand because I don't like to get chalk on my bridge fingers or in my stroke hand. I have noticed that more often than not, the pros (especially the men) chalk with their stroke hand while holding the cue with the same hand because it's simply more efficient.

Your Neighborhood Pool Nerd,

p.s. Thanks for participating everyone! I'll be posting a couple new ones each week. Some of REALLY good. ;)
