Had a Little Fun This Weekend

I had a little bit of fun this weekend and in the process I validated a lot of the things I've been working on the past couple of years.

I was even streamed for the first time. It should be interesting watching that back at some point, although it may be a bit scary to watch. I was about as nervous as ever, but I'm starting to get used to playing this way. It really can be quite exhilarating finding a way to win while you are shaking like a leaf.

Anybody out there see it by chance?

It was the Open Division Finals at the ACS Indiana Tourney. The event was streamed by TVMike.net. I guess he's going to gain at least one new subscriber to his premium services.

After watching your ghost videos in the Ghost sticky thread I was wondering if you had any titles under your belt, now I know!

Looks like dwelling is telling:cool:

Slow deep breaths can make the shakes go away...

CONGRATS MR. BASEMENTDWELLER!!!! I feels great to win a big tournament, doesn't it?
Are the matches going to be on you tube or somewhere else they can be watched? I was streamed over the weekend too, its fun isn't it? I won the mens singles B division in our state BCAPL tournament, I played my 5th match on the TV table, then the winners finals on the TV table and lost, bummer, then I won the losers side and we played the finals on the TV table where I had to 2 sets to win.

Congratulations Chris! Keep up the good practice and there will be more titles!

Thanks. I really haven't competed all that much but it sure is fun to get out there and see what you're really made of.

Thanks.

A tip for a banger (not that I believe you are one) would be to make sure you're practicing on the right things. Figuring out what the right things are is the hard part.

I wouldn't say I can REALLY play. I can just SORT OF play. Thanks though.

I try to control the breathing and it helps to a certain extent but sometimes I'm just all nerves. At that point I guess I can pack it up and go home or play through it. I'm getting much better at playing through it.

I asked Nick Varner about getting nervous and he said something like you just never know. Sometimes depending on the score or the setting he would just start getting nervous and he would just play through it. (paraphrasing there). I now realize I need to be somewhat nervous to play my best. I at least need to know that I'm alive. You got to keep that blood flowing.

Congrats fastone. I really have no idea what TVMike does with his footage. Maybe he makes them available on demand or you can buy DVD's or something. I will have to find out. I heard he had a few hundred watching my match. That's not quite a million but it's enough to make you not want to look like an idiot.

Congratulations Chris! Keep up the good practice and there will be more titles!

Thanks Neil. You've given me some pointers over the past few years and they were certainly appreciated.

Congratulations!!!

Great job, Chris! Well deserved win my friend...

I wish we had ya on our team this year..we might of been back to back champs!...but hopefully we can still do it up in Michigan.

Take care,

Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy.

That means a lot coming from you.

It was tough watching you guys go down in defeat. I couldn't help but think that I may have missed out on my one chance for a Vegas trip. Oh well, I guess I can still visit the metropolises of Niles, Benton Harbor, or maybe even Elkhart if I'm feeling crazy.

See you in Battle Creek.

We all get nervous at times. Besides the breathing, another thing that has helped me is while I'm taking those deep breaths I ask myself, 'Why are you nervous?' Then I answer myself, ' You shouldn't be nervous you've done this a million times before'. Then I take that last slow deep breathe & go to 'work'.

With this win you should be able to mentally build off of it.

Congratulations Again!

Rick
