Hand shaking peckers

Can BCA, WPA or whomever else release rules implement a new rule... NO MORE SHAKING HANDS before and after matches!

I don't think it's OCD (ok maybe it is), I watch players sneeze, take a leak (shake their knob), even at times take a number 2 and not wash hands. I don't want to shake their hand

My procedure is, paper towel hanging and ready, wash hands (with soap not a 2 second rinse) dry hands with towel, turn taps off with towel and open door with towel. Now, after all this, I should shake the hand of the guy I just followed out that pissed and didn't wash his hands?

I must have a better option. Anyone else have this issue?

Just say good match. pretty simple yet effective.

Just do it like germaphobe Howie Mandel does it. Instead of shaking hands, touch knuckles. Hopefully, when you raise your fist, your opponent won't think you're getting ready to fight. :grin-square:

You're OCD. Granted you don't want to shake the guys hand with piss on it but your routine is pretty OCD. I know a lot of guys that do the fist bump instead.

me too...

I won't shake hands with my pool opponents either for the same reasons Jason outlined in his opening post. I've been in many similar bathrooms where guys aren't being sanitary, not even close.

I attempt a verbal good luck, then, nice match.

If the unavoidable handshake is offered, all they're gonna get from me is a knuckle tap. No offense, I'm not interested in being a victim of your bad hygiene.

And, FWIW, I do the exact same OCD ritual as Jason when in public restrooms.

Best,
Brian kc

OCD or not be a good sport and shake the guys hand. If it bothers you that much run back to the restroom as soon as the awfulness is over.

What you should do is carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer. Not only is it more effective at killing germs than using a groady bathroom sink, it also leaves your hands dry and ready for pool playing.

While hand shaking is a big risk for germ transmission, so is touching the same pool table and using the same chalk, and breathing the same air. We do not live in a sterile world.

And if you know the guy did'nt wash his hands after using the restroom, just leave a good glob of the stuff on your hands when you shake his hand. That way you kill two germs with one stone. They may not ask to shake hands again after that :)

Not much logic in this one. What about the numberless people who have been laying their hands all over the table before you even got to the room? Are you prepared to wash the table on every inning? If you are, would you think you had an issue?

It would be like you watching me cover my hand with $h#t and offering to shake your hand. Would you be thinking, I will just run to the restroom afterwards? I feel silly asking people to knuckle tap all of the time... I try to say have a good match and avoid handshaking, but many still want to shake. I never start or end a match without saying good match. Why is the handshake required? A cue tap, foot tap, knuckle, elbow, forearm many other contact options are available.

Players cues are a dead give away for the non-hand washer. I have some ask me to try their cue (this is no easy task) I can feel this coating on some cues and it makes me sick. It is almost a crust of dirt, sauce and god knows what... Then they ask, how does it feel! I never ask someone to hit with my cue. When someone grabs it and starts hitting with it, I have to wash it. I always put my cues away the minute I'm done shooting to avoid this.

I do at times have to wash the table and balls. I have a delivery truck twice a month dropping off cleaning supplies...:) Not really, but close! I always have hand sanitizer near and don't mind cleaning the table and balls. I even have alcohol wipes for my cue. My own chalk, towel, powder etc. It isn't easy for me to play pool, but hey, I love to play.

LOL...Nice...now there's a message gift for sure! I usually just keep a little bottle with me and use some before matches to dry out my hands a bit. A lot of the time opponents will see me use the anti-bacterial stuff and ask for a drop for the same reasons I used it. Problem solved in most cases right there. If they don't ask for it I usually offer a drop anyway. It's really disgusting that a lot of people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom and expect you to shake with them. Hmmm....idea....anti-bacterial chalk.

When I first saw the title, I thought it belonged in the gay forums. No way I'm shaking anyones pecker with my hand!

You DO have a problem with this issue. It's not normal. Just let me ask you one question- you are in the pool room, some hot girl is turned on by you, and wants to give you oral sex, do you let her, or do you find it disgusting?? Think about it.

Do I have to shake her hand when done or will a knuckle tap and good job do?

If this germ thing is interfering with typical activities of your life or relationships, you should check with your physician.

If it's really an issue, when someone offers their hand, just back off and say something like "I'm fighting a cold, and probably shouldn't pass along any germs today".
Gets you out of an otherwise uncomfortable situation.

Perhaps you could hire a young , attractive quirky assistant (possibly named Sharona) and have her follow you around with a box of wipes .
Your new nickname is Monk . get used to it , we'll be calling you that from now on.
at least you're not Mr.Pink . . . .
