Thank you, Paul and Jennie! Gotten a lot of nice wishes over on Facebook yesterday, but it was nice to login to AZB this morning, and see this thread.
Paul: don't worry -- I'm not one of those gadget geeksters whose only conversational topic is about IT. In fact, in social settings, when people ask me what I do for a living, I like to joke that I'm the guy who stuffs the Lays potato chip bags, or the guy who puts the air into bubble wrap, or that I'm one of those guys you see on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike with the blaze-orange vests that hop out of the back of a truck to stab trash on the side of the highway.
(I'm sick and tired of the parasitic, "oh, you work in IT? Great! Say, my computer at home is acting up, and I think I'll need you to come over to take a look at it..." You know, that old, "because we're, like, newly-introduced friends now, you must troubleshoot my computer" thing.) We'll definitely talk about *anything* -- I'll gladly stay away from the IT topic.
Jennie: thank you for that GREAT article! Yes, I am indeed a stickler for proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation (to include serial commas

) -- but only in a professional writing setting. I've learned as I got older to "let that stuff go" when in a personal or social setting like a point-purpose public forum. Grammar/spelling nazis can be a boor, and in my earlier years, I'd learned that the hard way. Life is about moderation and maintaining balance. We have too many extremists in our world, and it looks like the human species have lost the notion of the words "tolerance" and "moderation."
Again, thanks to everyone for the wonderful b'day wishes! It was a great day yesterday!
