It's been over two years now and I'm about to lose my 2nd or 3rd bet (lost track) on whether Bill Stroud will finally keep the promise he made in his "Design Your Dream" contest thread.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=203624&highlight=design+dream

The little dough I've lost (and am about to once again) pales in comparison to what many az'ers lost by participating in the DYD contest. A lot of wasted time, definitely some wasted money, and the generally shitty feeling of being had.

Worst of all is the winner, mhaimi, sitting over there in Europe over two years now, still with no cue to show for his efforts.

Below is a link to the last known video of Bill in his shop. It's not even clear whether he has this shop anymore.

Please pay close attention at 1:15 as I believe this may, in fact, be the DYD cue in his hands. As you will see, he can shoot a little.

On that note, I will close by saying, you're a mean one, Mr. Stroud. :frown:

I may not bet on you again that you will complete this cue for mhaimi.

best,

I would like to think that Mr. Stroud is a better person than he is portrayed by this hole deal, but alas, it seems not. It would be nice to at least see an apology.

o well, Merry Christmas to all even billy-boy.

best,

Justin

I don't post often, but that was just way too funny!

Happy Holidays.

He's been playing quite often in the Phoenix area, come on down and tell him how you feel.

They. Lost. Nothing.

Anyone who participated in this contest knowing they might not win already valued the time spent as valueless.

Or they are idiots.

dld

here's a little advice that also costs nothing.

why don't you open your mind to the possibility that others may process this differently than you do?

there's a very distinct likleyhood that there are more points of view than just yours.

and spare me all the tough guy grumbling. I know first-hand that you're actually a good guy. :)

happy holidays.

best,

I've posted in a few of these threads on this subject.

I find it odd that I post a thread about outwitting a random drunk in a bar and get raked over the coals here on AZ. Getting lectured on being a poor ambassador for pool, etc.

Then we have Bill Stroud who publicly made a promise to the pool community then screwed the winner. The legend gets a pass for being a piss poor ambassador for our sport because after all he makes pretty wooden sticks to hit plastic balls.

I say BS: The majority of people here are 9 to 5 working, APA playing average Joe's. Many of whom only dream of owning a high end custom cue.

Shame on Bill Stroud and shame on those who defend his actions.

It really is pitiful to see how this keeps affecting people who have lost nothing on this.

Jesus, get over it, quit crying over this.

Guy did a bad thing. Big effing deal. People do FAR worse every day.

dld

Yeah, the only one who actually lost anything was Bill Stroud. He lost what little respect many people had for him. In reality, Bill has always been a pompous ass but he would generally do what he said he would.

Well said.

Who is defending his actions?

I certainly am not. I am simply pointing out that it is sad that everybody seems to play the victim on this. There is exactly one victim and he hasn't posted on these in a long time.

I wasn't singling you out DD. I was thinking of the posts in the past on this issue.

Brian,

Has anyone been on the lookout for any of the "free" cue designs submitted to Mr. Stroud? Perhaps in keeping with his apparent lack of personal integrity, he's sold or given the "donated" designs to another cue maker. Oh, I forgot, he's a cue making legend whose cues are still going up in value. Never mind!

One can only hope the "Spirit of Christmas" will visit him Christmas Eve and turn his cold, cold heart.

To all my fellow posters, the very best this season has to offer each of you.

What amazes me is if one of us so much as cyber-launches at someone or delivers an "ad-hominem attack" -- we get put on time-out.

If someone launches the forum into a month long-frenzy with a DYD contest and then keeps the winner on the hook for like 2 years before flipping everyone off--- he's allowed to continue posting.

This Bill Stroud reminds me of Eddie Wheat. At least Eddie was handing out Wheat Bucks, which is a lot more than Bill.

WOW this Bill Stroud Contest thing has come to life again, and it is not the first time in the history of the sport of Pool some person has got shafted out of a Purse, Prize, or Split of Gambling Winnings.

So now is the time to share one of my lessons I learned in life at a young age. Some people Suck like the lady who owed my $3.75 for her Newspaper Subscription that she insisted I climb a flight of stairs, and place on her door mat quietly each delivery day. I was not allowed to throw the Newspaper on her door matt as it could strike & damage her screen door, or scare the lady.

When she was behind in her payment 3 months at $1.25/Month, I lost my cool and stopped the delivery as I was out of pocket a total of $3.75. This was only after being told by her that "my husband pays the paper boy". So I went to the home many many times to collect the money from the husband who was never there when I was told he would be.

Best part of the story they called & complained to the office when I stopped the Newspaper, and I finally got to meet the husband who called me all sorts of bad names, and said he would like to tell my parents how bad they raised me. Should have told him what I thought of his BS, but I was quiet

I don't think the guy ever gave me the $3.75 he owed me, and I will assume he subscribed to another Newspaper as I never delivered again to his door matt quietly.

This was about 1958, and people sucked back then, as they do in 2012. IMHO Bill Stroud could be related to the Newspaper customer i had in 1958 in the San Fernando Valley.

REMEMBER THERE ARE ALSO GOOD PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TODAY, AND IN YEARS PAST
