I would just like to give a big thank you to Hard Times Billiards for the support they are showing to the billiards enthusiasts across the globe by hosting great events such as TAR 16 - Dominguez vs. Morra, CSI Qualifiers, and last years Battle of Los Angeles (Best of the West). This room really is the perfect venue for large scale pool action!

The room came under new ownership and management last year. They had a choice then, whether or not to be just a run of the mill poolroom, or to take on the responsibility of the name "Hard Times." Thankfully for all of us, they chose the latter.

Everyone keep your eyes on this poolroom as there is plenty more to come...:grin-square: Very, very soon :ok:

Anybody know if they still play golf on that front snooker table, as you walk in the back? And on which days? I've had more fun (and lost more $) playing there than just about anywhere else.:grin:
 
I agree!! Nice going to the Hard Times crew and owner :thumbup:


Golf is played pretty much any day ending in Y.

I think they're doing OK over there too - Last night, even the big non tournament room was packed with players and spectators. It was a lively scene! They could have used more seating to watch the match too.

These action matches are breathing new life into the otherwise ho-hum pool scene.

What a grind - congrats Oscar!

yes they still play golf every day , but they moved in on the other side of the bathrooms, and put in 2 carom tables were bertha used to be.
 
Thanks guys! I think I'll be heading that way soon to donate some more cash. I really love that game.

Last night was the first time I was in there since they took it over. I was so happy to see they cleaned it up, its a jam-up set up for TAR, I hope TAR can do a ton of shows from there, its dead nuts perfect on all levels.


The guys who took it over I spoke to and they are great, Hardtimes will be there for along time to come. They have pride in their room and it shows, reminds be when Chuck owned it. They did more than put $$$ into it, they put hteir hearts into making it the great room it was, you cant do that with just $$$ alone in biz. You have to put your heart into it to get it right(especially in the pool room biz).


Sorry I didnt make it there to see you Cory I was dead tired on Fri and Sat night I was in a real down mood. I forced myself to go last night, and I'm glad I did. Seeing that room look so nice made me real happy. I took Kelly with me, I told her the last time I was there It was a bit rough around the edges(not the people the room itself), when I walked in I told her alot changed. She liked it too, we had fun.

I'm glad we can give these people some recognition. They certainly deserve it. Catering to serious players can be a real pain in the azz. But, these folks are willing to step up to the plate for us and that's great. I wish them continued success.
 
I haven't been to Hard Times in nearly 2 years; honestly, the room had taken a down turn for a while and was as rough around the edges as some have mentioned earlier was part of the reason why I stopped going there. I'll defintely set aside some time to check it out soon.
 
Good thread, Corey. Hard Times is one of the great pool halls. They did a great job supporting the event, taking 4 or so tables in the tournament room out of action for three days.

That was crazy. They dedicated more than 1/2 of the tournament side to Oscar and John with 6 tables out of commission over the weekend. They also canceled the longest running (21 years) weekly (Sunday) tournament in the country for the TAR match!!!

They sure like pool!

Yeah, I forgot about that. I remember now seeing the sign that the tournament was canceled and thinking that was huge that they did that. :thumbup2:

Is Little Al still making cues upstairs? Why isnt he featured on the web site?

Yes, Al Romero is still up the stairs. On the Hard Times website if you click on "in-house cue repair" it should link to him, but it wasn't working when I just tried it.
