Just got this e mail from a friend in L.A....

"Last night the following players were at Hard Times: Efren Reyes, Francisco Bustamante, Marcus Chamat, Raj Hundel (form London), Arturo Rivera, Tang Ho, Ronnie Alcano, Rodolfo Laut, Marlon Malono (2nd place last IPT event), Jose Parica, some guy from Russia and the kid form Valenzuela. The players meeting for the Reno tournament does not start until Saturday at 5:00 so, their should be a lot of action over the next three days at Hard Times.

There were 2 guys playing 3 cushion for high stakes that played really strong!"

Heading that way tomorrow....

I always heard Fernando Valenzuela played jam up ala his fearsome pitching from the early 80s. Even looks skyward when stroking. Just kidding ya, I think you meant Venezuela. Wonder if the Russian is Evgeny.

Thanks for the info, man it's gotta be crazy seeing all those pros practicing under one roof...have a good trip out that way.

Way to go Ken

I understand they have had some tables done with the new IPT cloth.

Efren beat Hoa playing 8 ball. 10-3 in the last set. Efen beat him one set before that don't remember thre score.

Alcano was playing Tony Drago when I left. They were also playing eight ball. When I left Ronnie was leading the set, but was down one. There was a lot of chatter between those two tables (Playing next to each other at the same time) They talked like Efren is supposed to play Drago today,

It was all cheap. I believe $100 sets on both sides.

One more thing. For those of you who havent seen Ronnie Alcano play before. Your missing out.
That guy has an unreal break. I would pay to watch him break for an hour or two.

I was also there last night.

Tony Drago plays very good and seems like a decent guy. He took a lot
of jabs from the filipinos in the building.

Efren seemed in high spirits talking alot and cracking jokes over and over again.

Tang JUMPED on Efren and Tang played well. The sets were not real close
score wise but Tang was really only a few shots off all night. He said he was coming back today to play more. Tang broke good but Efren did not.
Efren went many breaks without pocketing a ball.
Both had some very nice shots but Efren had one the left the room in awe.
I cant use the Wei table on my computer right now but maybe Canteverwin
will post the layout.

Marlon was there practicing and looked sharp. Very hard break.
Oddly or not oddly the room seemed to stay away from him. Regulars and event he Pros seemed to distance themselves from him. He is definitely
a guy that is feared right now.

Wedesday sometime (i am not exactly sure) Efren will head to Rancho Cucamonga to Alex Loaingco's new room, Stix Billiards. If your around stop by and see the greatest player ever.

Have you been to the new room? How is it? Steve (tablemechanic) said he did the tables so I'm sure they play great.
But how is the rest of the room? I'm just looking to get a general review of the room as a whole.

Also, if you have them, will you PM me directions to the room from the Ontario Mills.

I work there and its a nice room. There are 14 GC IIIs and 6 GC IVs as well as 1 5x10 Snooker table and there will be 4 Bar Tables. He has two
Bar Tables right now.

Its around 8700 sq ft and in a good location. Full Kitchen and Beer and Wine served. No liquor license yet. Tough to get a liquor license in
Rancho Cucamonga. Maybe down the road a little bit.

The tables pockets are set up a little different. The CG IVs and 8 of the GC IIIs pockets are around 4.5 and the rest are around 4.0. All of them
play far and have Simonis 860 on them. Bar Tables have Simonis as well.

Hours are...
Sun 1pm -12pm
M-Thurs 1pm - 1AM
Fri & Sat 1PM - 2 AM

Some weekly tournaments are being planned right now and will start soon.
Look for some APA events as well and also maybe a "B" rated player and below event. I am sure Alex will have othres events as the year progresses but these are th ones I know are in the works.

Location is
7985 Vineyard Ave Suite G
Rancho Cucamonga Ca Phone 909 989 5020

Its near the I 15 and I 10 intersection.
From I10 Heading East exit Vineyard Ave and make a left back over the I-10. Go about 2 miles and you will come to the intersection of Vineyard and Foothill. After crossing this intersection turn right into shopping center. Entrance to shopping center is directly after Bobby Bajas restaurant and is the first place to make a right. Stix will be to your left in the corner of the shopping center parking lot.

Heading West on I 10 you will Exit Vineyard Ave and make a right. Follow the instructions from above after that.

From I 15 exit Foothill Blvd and head West. Travel on Foothill about 4-5 miles until you reach Vineyard Ave. Make a right on Vineyard and then
the first right into Shopping Center. Bobby Bajas restaurant is on the corner where youu turn until Vineyard. Stix is to your left on the end of the shopping center. On Foothill if you pass Albertsons on your Right side you have gone to far.

What other questions do you want answered?

That about answers it. It sounds like he did a good job.
I think I may have to take a trip out there tomorrow.

How did you hear Efren was going to show? Did anyone else mention they might be making an appearance?

Anybody know if Gabe Owen is there? Most of those players you named were at Shooters in Olathe, KS a few years ago for a Pro-Tournament and they ALL seemed to have a lot of fun! The Philipino's seem to always have fun wherever they go! :) That's awesome - wish I could be there! WOW!!!

Do you think that Alex would be interested in doing a Viking Tour event there in his new room? It is the Mike Janis tour from the Ohio area that I am trying to get started out here.

Four inches for pocket size? YIKES! That's tighter than the IPT tournament pockets. If they practice on those tables, the IPT pockets of 4-1/4 may look like buckets! :D
