Hatch The Shark

Players should not be allowed to speak to one another unless it is shot related we they ask the REF to watch the shot. Maybe the players should sign an agreement to act professional in all aspect before playing at the TAR Studio??

You know who TAR needs for these pitted matches?? Michaela Tabb (which would never happen unless the Cup was in town) or somebody like her. Almost a sit down and shut up approach that needs to be put in place. Well unless the drama is openly excepted or expected of the competitors. Don't really know but whatever... It is what it is.

So perhaps they should be playing snooker? You are comparing apples and oranges in two different worlds.
I am not condoning their actions, I'm just suggesting other motivations.
Nobody in America gives a damn about snooker so that comparison is invalid. If they were choir boys there wouldn't be comparable viewers

I think you are missing the point of his post. He was plainly stating that snooker PROFESSIONALS act like PROFESSIONALS unlike MOST of your beloved. You following this??

The second point that I outlined was just plain ignorant. Plenty of people in this country appreciate and love snooker. SO to say something as well thought out as that is extremely funny :lol:

One of the best professional (all around in ever aspect) is Efren!!! Doesnt say a word or complain about that much and guess what?? He still a BEAST!!!! Maybe its because he checks his ego when he has to to be a PROFESSIONAL!!!

Just saying

Yeah, and they are getting how many viewers with all those entertaining antics compared to the finals of the World Snooker Championship where the players are basicaly just playing the game in a professional fashion.

In one arena you have guys acting like spoiled divas and making peanuts in front of a handful of people, on the other side you have people acting like professionals playing a match for huge money in front of thousands of in person spectators and millions more on live TV.

Pool seems like it has a winner here, get guys to act like they are and you can get hundreds of people watching, sounds like an awesome plan...

Have you seen the NFL or NBA lately? There's alot of spoiled divas in both and they make millions. IT is after all entertainment.

Really? I mean really???

Apples and oranges in two different worlds???

I am comparing two cuesports that in fact exist in the SAME world that both consist of pocketing balls on a table that is twice as long as it is wide and which both have 6 pockets in the exact same geometrical position.

You want to call that apples and oranges? It is more like Granny Smith apples to Red Delicious apples, and in two different worlds? Give me a break Captain Hyperbole...

Your comment that the antics must be for "entertainment purposes" and the thought that they might actually help the sport's viewership were BS.

And as far as "nobody giving a damn about snooker in America". More of the general public within North America are watching the World Snooker Championships finals then will be watching the World 9-ball Championhip finals, count on that.

You said that thousands of people are watching snooker and nobody is watching pool.
My point was simply that nobody is watching snooker or pool in the united states of America.

ergo, apples and oranges.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear when I said I do not condone the actions, simply trying to explain them.

Obviously didn't do a good job, I'm sorry,
no more from me

Yes but are the fans of the NFL and NBA Football and Basketball fans or are they fans of watching a bunch of people act like idiots? I am going to guess people watch the sport for the sport and the other stuff is overlooked. The NFL and NBA were also popular 30 years ago when there was alot less of the diva BS going on.

Nobody watches Soccer in north america either, doesn't mean the other 6.5 billion people in the world don't.

P.S. I think Soccer is the most boring sport in the world.

I believe pool's Golden Age was before that. Turn of the century through the 1920's people came to watch pool / billiards being played. Not so much anymore.

I watched the stream for the last two days and unfortunately couldn't watch tonight because of prior plans. I have seen Dennis in a few tournaments and yes, he is always fidgeting with something. Usually texting or playing with his tip or moving his hands, drying his hands, etc, etc. I seriously believe he suffers from AADD. I love watching him shoot and he is great with the fans so this is in no way a slam on Dennis, but merely the truth. He also rolls his eyes or throws his hands up in the air if someone hits a ball bad and it falls, but if he is the one who hit it, he simply cheated the pocket and it was a good shot.lol.

With all that, Mike is no angel. I think Mike just has some growing up to do. Again, I think Mike is a great shot as well and enjoy watching him shoot.

I agree that both players on a table, need to sit still until it is their turn to shoot. If you need to fix your tip, fix it before you shoot. If you need to be on your phone, take your break that is allowed. The phone does not belong at the table, plain and simple.

I do believe Justin will not allow too many disruptions and I'm sure that is why he took them outside for a chat. I believe it was also said, Earl will not be invited back into the TAR studio. Apparently there is a threshold.

All of this is of course just my two cents, so fire away if you must.

Perhaps some should consider that this is entertainment, the players are entertainers, and everything they do is for entertainment purposes.

This stream or video or whatever it is would get exactly zero publicity if these guys weren't "entertaining" you.

Good pool entertains me, but I'm kinda' strange that way.

You guys are funny. So some of you think no one in the US watches snooker, or dare I even say plays? I don't know where you are getting your information, but check your sources as you are wrong. Most of the folks I know play pool, but there are also quite a few that enjoy snooker as well.

I watched a lot of the matches this week on a stream from the UK. These guys are the unlimate professionals, even calling fouls on themselves when the ref didn't catch it. How many times have you seen a pool player call a foul on himself? Not to mention the fact they don't make noises, squirm and move around in their seats, and all of the other moves I've seen pool players make. They stay steated, and quiet until it is their turn to play.

Don't get me wrong, I love playing pool, but all of the bullshit I see players pull, in most instances, is completely uncalled for and takes away from the sport. Sit down, shut the hell up, quit moving around like you got ant in your pants, pretend you are an adult and not some 10 year old kid, and just play.

And folks actually wonder why here in US, no one like ESPN wants to televise pool.

I bought today's PPV as I was actually going to have time to watch and thought it would be a great rubber match. I regret buying it. Watching both players trying to shark one another and listening to them argue was a joke. I'm glad I was able to support TAR, I just wish the match had been worth it. Oh well though, it is what it is and at least the SVB vs Archer match is happening next and there won't be any of the bullshit there was today.

The only thing that would have bothered me is when Dennis got out of his chair while Mike was racking the balls and started cleaning the cue ball. Mike is like " I don't want it cleaned " and he was tying his shoe during Mike's turn at the table. C'mon dude. Hatch continued to mock Mike also, pretending to slam his cue and laughing. Hatch was doing the same things he scolded Mike for later in the set. Then to top it off, while Mike is racking, Dennis says - "There's no f'in way this guy should beat me, never in his life" Poor conduct on both sides, more so on Hatch's end in my opinion.

Just wondering why you even bother to come on a pool forum when all you do all the time is say how great snooker is and how bad pool is . Why not just go on a snooker forum you think they are so great? Just wondering that's all!

FWIW, here are my impressions of the stream. First, I think Ken Shuman did an incredible job in handling the commentary by himself. Not sure why there wasn't another commentator. I would think someone decent would volunteer to help TAR out. Also not sure why there was not replay available. Probably a cost issue, but I thought Justin had the equipment (maybe not an operator available).

I was just anticipating a good match and didn't care who won. Frankly I was expecting Mike to be the immature, poorly behaved of the two. After watching all 3 session, IMO, Dennis was the more poorly behaved of the two and gave Mike no respect at all saying repeatedly that Mike shouldn't beat him ever. Although Mike slammed his cue down on the floor (still holding on to it) it was Dennis who literally threw his jump cue back to his chair after missing a shot. It seemed to me that most of Mike's comments were in response to something insulting that Dennis said.

You may have a different opinion, but that is mine.

TAR should make them sign an agreement it would make for a better match I think. I would rather see a great pool match than stupid arguments for real. If I want to watch dumb shit I could watch Jerry Springer for free and I don't. I agree Runout.
